We heard of Aunt Louise’s from Breaking News an online news service. It was reputed to be one of Sebastian’s best restaurants. We had tried the takeout pizza several weeks ago and it wasn’t too bad, so we decided to check out the online menu. We decided on the meatball sandwich and elected to eat in. Inside, the decor reminded me of a college hangout in Bloomington, Indiana, whose food was to die for - but herein, the comparison ended. Brick and mortar is one thing that can be easily duplicated. Not so with good food.
The meatballs were rumored to be homemade. I guess they were; but if I lived in a home that served these meatballs - I’d move…far far away. The meatballs were beyond bland - seriously we searched for an inkling of seasoning and spices, but there was none. The bun was burned and there might have been two tablespoons of sauce on the sandwich, but I’m being generous. Since there were NO salt and pepper shakers or any seasoning of any nature on the table, there was no opportunity to season the sandwich at all. What a waste of our time - and our money! My wife and I experienced queasiness on the way home, but have managed to hold down our lunch.
After these experiences, I can’t agree that Aunt Louise’s is a good place to eat. It might be one of Sebastian’s better places, but the last time I checked, Sebastian is not generally known as a hotbed of excellent quisene. In fact, it’s restaurants are rather lame offering nothing to write home about. Aunt Louise’s, in this regard, fits right in! Ugh!
REPLY TO RESPONSE FROM AUNT LOUISE’S: No, we reviewed the correct place. The only mystery left is how much you must have paid the Reader’s Choice Reviewer to write his favorable review - and what are his credentials? Don’t worry, we know where to find a decent restaurant - and it isn’t...
Read moreWell the food and the service was horrible. My husbands spagetti was soaked with water he drained about half a cup of water from them, I had chicken Alfredo, there was exactly 3 tiny strips of chicken and the sauce tasted like walmart brand extremely bland, no taste I couldn't eat it. The food apparently was supposed to come with garlic knots or bread, i ordered the knots. When the food arrived no knots but they brought bread saturated with heavy not virgin olive oil that left unpleasant taste in your mouth. We ordered some regular bread without the massive amount of oil she did bring the bread it was cut so thin you could read a newspaper through it. When the check arrived I was really surprised when I saw that we were charged for 2 orders of bread, which is almost $3 each. I asked the waitress about it and she became very agitated, she said she brought 2 orders of bread for my husband and she charged for one of them and of course for the plain bread (which I had no problem paying for). I tried to explain to her that she never brought my garlic knots and naturally I thought she brought bread for me too. She insisted that regardless that I did not receive the free knots or bread we have to pay for 2 orders of bread... oh well.... some people in my opinion have to go back to school and learn how to add it really is simple math if u think of it.... 2 people - received 3 orders of bread - we should pay for only one, right? Well not according to the waitress 2 ppl - 3 orders of bread we paid for 2 of them!
So as I said not only the food is tasteless and ordinary but the waitress is pretty dull, controversial and may be skipped a few math classes.
Thank you for the miserable evening...needless to say I will not be returning. One time...
Read moreGo some place else. This place has gone down hill. I will say the service is generally friendly unless you complain about the food and then they may get a little short. ( I think they are getting tired f complaints) The Atmosphere is good enough. BUT the food has gotten very bland and the portions just keep getting smaller. And I am comparing this to other Italian restaurants. all restaurants have made cutbacks, but none seem to be as bad as the ones at Louises. I found myself going to this restaurant, less and less frequently until now I just don't want to bother with it anymore. pizzas are often dry and flavorless. The Alfredo sauce has gotten very watery and also has very little flavor. The lasagna is little more than a dish of sauce. The chicken Parmesan is a tiny very dry piece of chicken with no cheese. it shouldn't be called Parmesan. It should be called dried out cheeseless chicken. I could go on but thats enough. we have gone to a few Italian restaurants of comparable price and now see how much better others are. Just got lasagna at a competitor, and it was not only less money, but twice the size and twice the flavor. I have no idea why aunt Louise's pizzeria is popular. there are just so much better...
