Tried this place the other night for my first (and last) time and where do I even start. I know from experience that service at Chinese restaurants can sometimes be a bit rushed and not the friendliest, however as a server there is a difference between being busy and not having time to small talk with customers and just being flat out rude to them. If I acted the way our server did when I was at work I'm pretty sure I'd not be working there much longer.
Our server was so irritated at the notion that I would have questions about the menu and needed some time to figure out what to order that she was standoffish and rude. Here is a great piece of advice, if you actually answered my question about the menu maybe I would be faster at ordering! But no, that just would be too much effort to explain something, so instead keep coming by every minute to ask me if I am ready yet and then get angry with me about it. The answer is still the same as the last minute.
Ok, but surely the food made up for the awful service right?!
Wrong! The food was flavorless, bland and entirely uninspired. The General Tso Chicken was mushy and the breading fell right off of it. It should be double fried and crispy but here it wasn't. Everything I tried was the same situation. And to top it off the prices were astronomical. If I'm going to spend upwards of 16 to 20 per entree I'm expecting a decent portion of food. The soup with the meal is nothing special and the ice cream was artificial tasting.
Do yourself a favor and avoid this place. There is so much better...
Read moreWe were pleasantly surprised. Given some of the reviews, we were skeptical; however, the food was great and service great, albeit they were short staffed as every business is since covid. Even though short staffed, the servers did an amazing job - funny, polite, and we had our hot tea and soup before ordering - smart to anticipate part of our order to keep the dining room rolling. There wasn't an empty seat halfway through our meal, and a line waiting outside as we left. That should tell enough story.
Now that I read some of the reviews that were poor, I understand exactly what the issues were about... typical prima donna snowbirds that expect exclusive attention, but can't afford the Capital Grill, Morton's or NY Prime. You know the type... they think they are food critics at exclusive restaurants, and probably tip lousy - it's an unfortunate aspect of Yelp allowing any clown to review a business. In fact, the table next to us had such a critic that I'm pretty sure was an only child growing up (using grow up loosely).
Anyway, bravo to this small business to persevere and provide great food and a pleasant experience. And thank you to our waiter Jackson - you were a machine handling the volume and a...
Read moreI’ve had multiple poor experiences at this restaurant- I somehow let myself believe it was just a bad batch of food or something but again tonight was delivered disgusting, plain tasting general taos chicken.
We ordered two entrees of it and we both could not bare to actually eat the food, it was that bad. The review that mentions the breading just falling off and the flavor being non existent is exactly how both of our entrees were.
My girlfriend called to at the very least report it, and it took at least 5 calls to get an answer (over a 15 min period) - and ended up just having the owner basically tell us that either were mistaken or the chef just forgot to add something to the food.
She offered a $10 credit on a $47 order and kept pushing it despite us telling her we would not be eating there again. If she was more reasonable I probably would have just left it at that but it’s clear they make mediocre food (knowingly) and her attitude was less than ideal from an owner . So, please avoid this place. China Garden right across the street is much better (shame on me for straying) and the owner...
