I may have to try this place again during a dinner seating after they've been established for a bit longer.
My experience on 6/12/2021 during their lunch service:
Walked up to the restaurant who's front door was left wide open, was immediately greeted and quickly seated by the host. It's a very large, very open restaurant, and there were maybe 4 others tables seated when we arrived around 1:30pm.
Our servers name was written on the brown paper table cover, which was nice, so we couldn't forget. It then took anywhere from 5 - 10 minutes for our server + her trainee to come over to the table to greet us and get drink orders. (Keep in mind, the restaurant launched/opened about 1 week prior to this first visit) Kegs and drinks were just being made available that day when we arrived. I ordered an Angry Orchard and hubs got a Floridian. He was escorted by our servers to the bar to see what was available, and it took them about 15 minutes to tap the keg for my Angry Orchard.
Food order was placed easily and quickly, and our soups arrived with good time, was served hot, came with oyster crackers, and was very good. Nice clam chowder flavor and not overly watery or lacking in clam meat.
Decided to try the hushpuppies, because I love a good warm, fluffy hushpuppy. These were very small (10 to an order) and I found them to be very dense and lacking in flavor. I tried to eat 3, one plain with no sauces, one dipped in the remaining broth of my soup, and one in the ranch (sorry what, why?) they served with them. I just didn't like them.
Soup and appetizer was cleared pretty quickly after finishing, but then there was a lull between finishing the app and getting our mains. We both ordered the fried shrimp baskets (I got plain fries and hubs got cajun). Both meals arrived and were nice and hot, everything was cooked well and tasted good. The cajun fries weren't super flavorful though compared to the plain, even though you could see the color difference.
We both finish our entree's, get boxes for leftovers and are given the check. We wrap our food, place our cards in the check book and wait. And wait. And wait. I think we waited a good 15-20 minutes for our server. We're looking around (and mind you, there's still only 4 or 5 tables, this place is not crowded, loud or busy) and can't find our server. Suddenly we hear her from the back of the restaurant, and she comes rushing up to grab the check. As her trainee is brining back our cards, she tells us, "We're so sorry, she forgot you were here. We gave you 10%, we really did forget, we're really sorry." And we were sitting at the front, right by the hostess stand. I appreciate the honesty, and the discount, but that tainted my experience without a doubt. How do you forget you have a paying customer waiting to cash out?
I may consider trying them again when they've been going for a while longer, and when I want to try a seafood feast instead of some fried goodies.
So, overall:
What I liked: (1) The overall aesthetics of the restaurant are nice, it's beautifully finished. (2) Food was served fresh and hot with good portion sizes.
What I thought could be improved: (1) Service....
Read moreMom & I wet eat early dinner @ ‘Red Crab Juicy Seafood’ for 1st X Tue 11/7/23 We were promptly seated, restaurant wasn’t crowded, maybe 1 or 2 tables already eating. The menu offered a variety of fried & boiled seafoods; price of boiled based on weight, not overly expensive, reasonable I guess(1/2# crawfish. 🦞 $10/// 1/2# crabs🦀 or shrimp 🍤 $15, I think scallops & oyster🦪 prices a couple bucks more). Initially I was going order crab🦀 cake, but after questioning waitress as to ingredients, decided best not, has addtnl ingredients besides crab🦀 meat & seasoned bread crumbs. Instead, I ordered 1/2# mild boiled crawfish🦞, recvd’ 6-8 crawfish🦞, ate 3; large ‘old’ crawfish w/zero flavor(mild shouldn’t be tasteless!). Not much ‘juice’ in heads or tails, just chewy(old & tough)flavorless dead crawfish🦞. I returned the rest of crawfish 🦞, Red Crab was kind enough to take it off the bill. Mom recvd oyster🦪 po-boy w/lettuce, tomato🍅, & what looked like a kinda creamy sauce & I recvd fried basket w/1/2 oyster🦪 1/2 scallops, we both ordered crispy onion🧅 rings. The onion🧅 rings were the ‘best’(I use that word lightly)part of the meal. The scallops were huge, tough/very chewy & flavorless(actually tasted nasty, I spit it out, couldn’t eat them)the oysters🦪 had zero taste, just squirt grease into my mouth(ate 3 of the 6)but were cooked to perfection (shame, could have been delicious!). Mom said her oyster🦪 po-boy wasn’t much better. Sooo disappointed! I’m not certain the poor quality of the food had anything to do w/what followed later that night, but both mom & I had a miserable night, stomach & bathroom issues, by the morning, nausea & sick. We hadn’t eaten anything besides what we had ingested @ Red Crab Juicy Seafood since breakfast, so…. Once we were devoid of any Red Crab remnants, we were both fine. Decide for yourself; but we won’t...
Read moreI just want to say I love this place and I come here often and Jessica usually always takes care of us every time we go. She’s a great server and an absolute great bartender. She’s always happy and always positive especially around her customers, but her upbeat attitude it’s one great thing a server to have we love this place because the food is great as well as the service but we came in last week and Jessica was off that day so we got another server named Nicole took her eight minutes to greet us doesn’t seem like she was like an upbeat server or look happy she asked what do we want to drink? She came back with our drinks and we asked her to give us a couple minutes to look at the menu 15 minutes and I got tired of waiting and I got up to look for her, and I saw that she is just sitting in a booth focused on her phone. The manager must’ve seen the problem and pulled her in the back to talk to her because she came back didn’t even apologize just takes our order and then it seems like we had to wait more longer than usual on our order , but after that, she went to that same booth on her phone, which that is not the type of service I would like for my own self if you have tables or even if you’re a bartender, and you have people there at the bar, why would you be away from them because you shouldn’t be sitting on your phone in a booth that’s ridiculous. She definitely did not give a good tip. Because she didn’t deserve it if I can give her a zero I would she should be fired in the end because you shouldn’t be on your phone to begin with while you’re trying to serve people. Hopefully, well actually I know if I get you as a server again I will definitely ask the manager to get me...
