RESPECT!!! This review is more for the staff. I visited, Sat Aug 19, 2023, late afternoon between 3:30 & 4pm. It was of course an assembly line 3 ladies. 1 - gives the sides, 2 - gives the meat and 3 - the cashier. Lady 3 was fusing at lady 2 about an order. 2 is clearly embarrassed and thrown off. She steps to the back to gather herself and replace an item. ( she did the right thing ). Lady 2 gets it together and proceeds with the task at hand.
When my order is up lady 3 is now fussing with me about how my order should have been prepared differently, since I only got sides . She also complained about how it is a waist of a container. Really, I don’t care! She proceeds to go to lady 1 and tell her, in front of the customers what she did wrong. Lady 1 was not bothered by lady 3. This entire interaction was very unprofessional. In front of customers, lady 1 voice was raised and the way she talk to her co-workers. It was not what she said but how she said it. It was also not the time or place.
Now the food. Large selection of food. Lots of options. I was not eating meat on this day. I ordered got collard greens and Mac and cheese. Hubby ordered yellow rice, yams and Mac & cheese. The portions given were good size. The food was great. Collards for me were ok. Hubby loved it. Hubby’s platter was $19 and my sides were $5+ per side. Very pricey. We spent $35. I would recommend this location. Since I was visiting Tampa I won’t be going out of my way to return. Sorry I have...
Read moreI came here looking for a liver and onions and I told the lady I want to liver and onions and she just asked me what kind of rice she wasn’t listening to what I was saying and then it’s like an assembly line as you go down the issue was that items that you want and the macaroni and cheese taste like somebody is trying to experiment on how to make macaroni and cheese it doesn’t even taste close to the box my macaroni and cheese Velveeta it tastes like they put mayo in your macaroni and cheese before you buy b 100% sure that you want to spend your money here because they say no refund and the food is below par and as all the other reviews have a mention the food is warm you have to take it home and heat it up and they stuff everything in one bag I guess they’re trying to save money on bags when they have these heavy plates full of slop Be coming back not even for Sunday for liver and onions this is an experimental blue flame southern restaurant the people in the inside who are cooking or clearly experimenting because I never tasted mayo and macaroni and cheese is mushy and soupy below par average food is nastyThe girl inside heard the nerve to be upset because I said the food was nasty I said oh no you don’t get no refund on this nasty food only thing they good at is making cake and it’s a box cake I’m sure...
Read moreThis deserves all the all stars I could put on here. The restaurants slogan is “No Salt Needed” and they are absolutely correct. So visiting from out of town my sister-in-law suggested this place after smelling my mother-in-laws food (we did a surprise visit and she didn’t cook enough). So on a Sunday we visited to a packed restaurant. At first I was hangry because I had to wait. But trust the wait was well worth it. My husband had the meatloaf and I had the smothered turkey. Everything was great! I only gave a 4 star for service because they did take long on my children’s fish order and they charge extra for the same side if you wanted double of that. [Typical meal is meat, your choice of white/yellow rice or mashed potatoes, and 2 sides]
I got a regular meal for my kids because they are not big eaters but really wanted the fish and a side. The restaurant offers 4 choices of kids meals but only the chicken comes with a choice of the sides served for regular plates.
But overall, this place exceeded my expectations and I am very happy to have been suggested this place. Prices have gone up so don’t expect to pay $8-$10 but you will be able to eat off the one plate for a minute. I will definitely visit again the next time I’m in the area....
