My wife and I normally love this place. We come here all the time. Today we ordered two gluten free turkey wraps. They nornally come out nice and hot. Today though we opened them up in the car and they were actually cold and looked as if they had been slapped together quickly.. So I took them in and explained that they are normally hot, and asked if they were perhaps preparing them a new way, giving them the benefit of the doubt. The first thing the owner said was that they were sitting on the counter for a while after my wife had ordered them. I apologized for that and said that we didnât realize they were ready (which is our fault). Then after saying that to me she actually felt them for herself and even said out loud âwhy are they cold?â But the fact that they were cold doesnât take a rocket scientist to realize that that doesnât happen from sitting on the counter in a to go box for a few minutes...it comes from not cooking them properly on the stove top (like they normally do). So then I proceeded to ask if they could just warm them up at all. Out loud in front of me one of the owners asked what to do and the other owner said that she didnât know as this had never happened before. What customer wants to hear that? Then the cook from the back chimes in and states that they are made to order. They are made to order, but they werenât warned up properly. What I think actually happened was they didnât warm them up properly on the stove top and for whatever reason didnât either realize it or didnât want to admit it. I am cool with them possibly not realizing it especially if they were busy, but the customer should never feel that they are an inconvenience, even if it may be partly their fault. They were nice enough to microwaveable them for us, which was appreciated. They offered to remake them but I said not to worry about it. We still love this place but just felt that we needed...
Read moreWe were so excited to visit Blue Mountain Bakery this morning and unfortunately left so disappointed. We visit Blue Mountain Beach year after year and had not made it to the bakery since it's been under new ownership. Last year they were closed for their summer break week so when we saw they were going to be open this week we planned our morning around a visit with hopes to make it a regular stop for the week. The bakery goods were beautiful and looked so fresh and delicious- my two small children were so ecstatic! We were abruptly stopped in our tracks by the blonde woman behind the counter taking orders. No free smiles or warm welcomes here, straight faced, flat out rude as if we were an added annoyance to someone who hates their job but dislikes people even more. We each made our order with smiles, polite please and thank yous multiple times and was recieved with most uncomfortable interaction- not a word was said in reply, avoided eye contact and again no smiling. What I find so interesting is when I opened up google reviews to share my experience, this blonde woman who so desperately needs a course in customer service and kindness has been made note of in other reviews. Why hasn't this been addressed? We work so hard to teach our children kindness and this experience has led to a discussion around it all morning. Sadly when you have staff that acts like that while representing your brand and goods it doesn't even matter how fabulous it is, it leaves a sour taste...
Read moreOh my goodness I cannot say enough about how AMAZING this little bakery is. Not only were all the staff wonderful, kind, patient (which is important when your whole party is crippled by choice; the menu is incredible and everything looks and smells tantalizingly delicious) but seriously every single item on the menu is beyond amazing.
Everything is fresh, all the pastries and breakfast and coffee but they also do take-out large casseroles and dinner items you can pick up and take home to cook.
We went multiple times this vacation, and if we had known about it earlier we would 100% be going there every single day (possibly multiple times, it is THAT GOOD).
We have young kids and the staff were so helpful and gave us great recommendations for things to do in the area. Plus, on top of all of this, it's so accessible! It's in the same shopping plaza as a bike shop (ALSO fantastic, will be reviewing that separately) and a nice little grocery store that is great for quick trips when you don't want to schlep to the nearest large grocer.
11/10 highly recommend, do not miss this great little shop. The inside is very small, so be prepared to wait as they don't have the physical space to accommodate a ton of people at once. There's a large outdoor seating area but no spots indoors; however it's shaded/covered so you can be out of the sun and weather.
They are known for their cinnamon rolls and for good reason. They are...
