Brasserie Honoré — Restaurant in Florida

I had 2 overall negative experiences and 2 overall positive experiences.

The bad: the food is inconsistently prepared. I actually got food poisoning (relatively mild) twice from undercooked meat. First time my burger, ordered medium, came out absolutely raw in the center. The waiter looked shocked when I showed it to him. By the way, the replacement burger came out completely charred. And the salad had unripe avocado and wilted sprouts. The second time my prime rib was a bit too pink, and came out almost completely cold, and sure enough also made me ill... I know the prime rib there is prepared in advance by their butcher-shop, so I'm not sure whose fault that was. 20 minutes later I got unmistakable signs of food poisoning. I also ordered a pizza with a poached egg... the egg was completely cooked through... I've never heard of a fully cooked-through poached egg.

The good: They cooked a nearly perfect Steak Frites... it was done medium, served hot, with plenty of juicy pink in the middle, and didn't make me sick. It was just a little over-salted for my taste, but I eat less salt than most. Their haricots verts / green beans are very good and very well-seasoned. The service is good, and it's pretty easy to pay and get your food (although you have to bring cash to tip). They also responsibly source their meat and dairy, and its very convenient if you already shop there.

I have been avoiding this place for a long time because of it being inside a grocery store (Whole foods). However, my partner who has frequented it many times suggested we go there as their food is actually good. Reluctantly, I agreed and so happy I went. Although the ambiance is lacking, the food by far makes up for it. We both ordered burgers. My partner ordered a side of grilled mushrooms. I tasted everything and I honestly thought this food tasted better than some 5 star fine dining establishments I have been at. Very negative experience. First the only place to be waited on it at the ‘bar’, other than that it is basically like chipotle. My best friend and i had her child with us and the waiter said it was no problem if we wanted to sit at the bar because it was 2 pm in the afternoon. As we were sitting down the manager came up and made us feel as though we were the stupidest people in the world for even assuming we could sit at the bar with a child, after already being directed by the waiter to sit down.
