I live here in Parrish and absolutely love supporting local family owned businesses... but Butterfields Restaurant definitely is not one of those places. I know I can be a picky customer.... but that’s only because I expect to get what I’m paying for.
My experience: I ordered Eggs Florentine and when I got them, it was basically a hard boiled egg by how over cooked the eggs were. I politely explained this to the server and she took it back immediately and a few minutes late came back with my order again. Except this time, the eggs were completely undercooked to the point where the white of egg was literally still very gooey. I asked for the owner and waited for the server to come back and ask if my order was better now.... since they didn’t, I got up with my plate and another server met me and asked me if there was something wrong... I again very politely explained to her that the eggs were very undercooked and she said ok I’ll take it. I went and sat down and our server walked up to our table and she asked if there was anything else like a muffin or fruit that she can get me. I said oh no thank you, I’ll just wait. So she said ok no problem and I’ll make sure to remove it from your check. In which I replied oh no you don’t have to take it off (since I was still going to be eating it ).
I waited about 15 mins and when the server was walking by (not that she came to check on our table), I asked her what the hold up was?.... well apparently she thought I didn’t want anything at all.
like really? Why would I come to a breakfast restaurant?..... to have your watered down coffee?.... seriously ?
Anyway eventually the food came and this time it was good! Eggs were cooked as they should be and it indeed was a delicious dish.
When we go to check out, the server had the audacity to charge us for everything? In which of course I replied (and at this point YES I was very upset!) are you kidding?.... you guys brought me the order Wrong TWICE and made me wait over 15 minutes for it to finally come out right and you are charging me for it?... she was like “but you ate it”.... “seriously? I’m sorry but I’m not paying for that”. And she did end up removing JUST that. (Would’ve thought they’d comp the watered down coffee too but apparently not).
I still hadn’t seen the manager/owner. He never came to the table to apologize for the inconvenience.
And when I asked to speak to the owner he was very rude and abrupt! He said “what? Where they still not good for you?” In which I explained to him... very nicely... about the overcooked, the undercooked, and the wait. And he was telling me that he basically knows best of how poached eggs need to be cooked. “Obviously your cook staff doesn’t” I also explained to him that as an owner he should’ve come to our table and see how we were doing because of all and he said “we can’t satisfy everyone” and then said “you’re just an unsatisfiable customer” and waved me off. (At this point I did go off at him (and somehow I didn’t curse))
I was so upset with this whole experience. I know the customer is not always right.... but how dare you treat me like that and brush me off like you just don’t care or not even care to come speak to our table from the getgo? We did not need to be treated this way.
Officially lost a customer here.... although obviously,...
Read moreThe owner should educate himself on merchant laws. What he is doing is illegal and is going unnoticed while he screws every customer that pays with a card.
Upon asking the gentleman (who I presume is the owner) why I was charged a “non cash adjustment fee” his response was everything but satisfying. After moving a bunch of papers out of the way he should me a sign taped to the counter saying “credit cards will pay a 3.5% fee.” Keep in mind this wasn’t visible until I asked him about it and he moved the papers. Also I did not pay with credit, I paid with debit which makes a difference.
I then told him that in Florida you can not charge a surcharge for cards unless the payment is abnormal like via phone, or online, etc. Then his best answer was “Bro, everyone is doing it.”
First off “Bro”...
No not everyone is doing this. If I go to Chili’s, Longhorn, Pinch a Penny (which is a couple doors down) or Publix, they do not charge you to use a chard.
I paid with a debit which typically cost less than 50cents to run a card, therefore he is making money off me to use a debit card and everyone else that uses one
Lastly I am not your “Bro”
In the end it isn’t about the money, I paid more for your maple syrup than I did your credit card fee. Life will move on for me and you obviously need the money more than I do. However this is frustrating as I am also a local business owner that pays thousands in credit card fees every year, and not once do I ever charge a customer to use a card. Nor do most businesses charge a fee. Paying credit card fees is part of business so get use to it. In the state of Florida you can offer a discount for using cash however the price shown is the maximum price and what you will pay if using a card.
I don’t normally write bad reviews, and I also am totally for supporting local business. However as a local business, this gave me a bad taste. It is unethical and illegal and he is making money off this.
Lastly, don’t ever call a paying customer “Bro” and learn...
Read moreThis is our go to for breakfast, or should I say used to be our go to breakfast staple. We were there on Sunday the 4th of December for our normal breakfast visit and for the second time in a row the quality and attention to the customer and food detail and preparation were just not there .. we thought the last time we were there was a one off, and wrote it off to that ..But this experience on the 4th was the same as the last Not Good!
I ordered my usual, the breakfast meat lovers casserole, usually outstanding, but this time, as well as the last were not good. The dish used to come with two pieces of toast, on Sunday it came with one. When I inquired about this the server told me they downsized the dish to one. In addition my meal was hastily prepared and thrown together and it was hot on top, but not all The way through as it used to be. The reason we raved about Butterfields was because of the home town feel and attitude of the owner and staff, and the NON-chain preparation of the food. That is no longer the case. The friendly atmosphere has given way to commercial fast, fast, fast and don't care about quality just turn a table attitude. We will be on the hunt for new place to call our breakfast home..Truly sad, as this was one of the few places we felt that were not affected by the hustle and bustle of a growing...
