Well its finally over, we tried to give Two Filets yet another chance and it was again just a miserable failure. Some history... First visit, the grand opening month, so the kitchen confusion, messed up orders etc were "okay" and we passed it off to "opening jitters" and were confident they would get it together. Second visit, with neighbors, reservation was messed up (waited 45 mins after confirmed reservation time, but free drinks so okay), fish orders were overcooked, all steak orders wrong or incomplete. Apologies and free desserts (undercooked cookies??yuck!). Third visit sat at the bar, great time with bar tender but orders came and were completely wrong. As we were discussing this the bartender then proceeded to get rude and loud with us accusing us of being a couple who frequents there trying to get free food! Umm that is not us! And then the hostess came over and apologized profusely as she had remembered us from our 2nd visit debacle and said the bar tender misunderstood her and had us confused with another couple(really? wow?). 5th visit and last.... took some time to get seated, served and bread (over 15 minutes) , put in our order and here it comes.... 1 dish correct the 2nd dish we have no f'ing idea how it was even created. Not in the ballpark of what was ordered. They comped a drink off the bill and we left.
I need to inform you all of one key piece of information on every single visit, We have tried to order the same dang thing every time!!
8 oz Wagyu Sirloin $30 Served with broccoli and au gratin potatoes
Is it a stretch to think a steak place can pull off a sirloin, broccoli and potatoes? I wouldn't think so but in 5 visits they never got this order correct, never..... The au gratin potatoes were originally done in mini cast iron pan and were so delicious, now you get a square that looks right out of an "i don't give a $__t" sheet pan, and the flavor is not good. The steak was tasty and broccoli is broccoli. This is NOT a complicated dish and it was a 5 times fail on ordering and receiving. Damn Shame.
Please know folks we are not Naples visitors and have enjoyed the family of restaurants in this group with Pinchers and Deep Lagoon (which we frequent quite often) and we were hoping Two Filets would be in line with those... but for us (other people think its great) this restaurant is a...
Read moreWow! First time I went, I sat at the bar. I was alone and didn't want to bother with a table. I ordered the twin triple tale and a cup of NE clam chowder.
NE chowder is usually cream and potato heavy and clams are minced.....NOT SO HERE! You could see and actually bite into a plethora of clams, swimming in a very light cream base with potatoes as the side attraction rather than the main event. It was flavorful and seasoned with just a hint of spicy to wake up your taste buds.
The triple tale was cooked perfectly with a light sauce which brought out the natural sweetness of this white and flaky mild fish.
I got a piece of carrot cake to go and it was HUGE with candied pecans sprinkled all around. Easily a shared desert. I ate on in for the next 4 days!
I was so impressed with this restaurant that I introduced 3 friends to it the very next night. I got the clam chowder again, but ordered the happy hour muscles, too. It was a perfect portion for one and the broth was the perfect combination of flavors with a touch of sea. I found myself taking spoonfuls of the broth while I waited for my main. I got the triple tale again, but this time I had it topped "Oscar Style", which was not a mistake. The crab was sweet and a perfect complement to the fish. All my companions got fish, too, and nobody was disappointed in any way.
Fear not if you prefer meat. Other patrons were ordering a variety of their steak options and the plates looked amazing. I saw one table using their butter knives to cut their meat....'nuf said.
The atmosphere, whether in the bar area or in the dining room, is welcoming with a hint of upscale, but no need to dress up, come as you are. No pretense here.
Do yourself a culinary favor and make this place your next meal out. You will...
Read moreI leave very few reviews but tonight "Two Filets" really ticked me off. We made a reservation on Open Table. There were two sets of reservation times to choose from. One set said "Outside Dining" the other set did not specify and would lead anyone to believe that was "not outside dining". (Check it out for yourself) We did not choose Outside Dining. When we got there they insisted on seating us outside. They said we didn't specifically request Inside Dining. I told them we specifically did not request Outside. There were tables available inside but they said they were reserved. We said we had a reservation but they wouldn't seat us inside. It was very upsetting. We were on vacation from out of state and this was our last night in town. We would have considered going ahead and eating outside but their outside dining is in front of their building about 30 feet off of US 41 and there's a lot of road noise and its not pleasant. They would not accommodate us so we left and didn't eat there. We drove a few miles down US 41 to another restaurant called "Mr. Big Fish". It had great food and great service. I would highly recommend "Mr. Big Fish". My advice is if you want to go to "Two Filets" be prepared for them trying to seat you outside along the highway. They are concerned about making you happy or accommodating...
