During a recent business trip to Naples, I embarked on a culinary adventure that led me to Salsa Brava—a hidden gem that proved a little challenging to find but was unequivocally worth the effort. The moment I stepped through the door, the warmth and welcoming vibe set the tone for an unforgettable dining experience.
The standout feature of Salsa Brava was the exceptional service. Our server exuded happiness and was adept at making recommendations, ensuring that our meal was not just food, but a gastronomic journey. Her enthusiasm and knowledge of the menu added a personal touch that made our visit all the more special.
The culinary experience began on a high note with the tortilla chips. Far from ordinary, these wonderfully crisp, in-house made chips were a revelation. Accompanied by guacamole that mastered the delicate balance between creamy and chunky, it was an appetizer that promised an exciting meal ahead.
For the main course, I indulged in the fried fish tacos, a choice influenced by our server's suggestion. Each taco was a testament to the chef's ability to harmonize flavors and textures. The fish was fried to perfection, with a crisp exterior giving way to tender, flavorful flesh. The freshness of the toppings elevated the dish, making each bite a celebration of taste. The portion was generous, with three tacos satisfyingly filling.
Salsa Brava is more than just a restaurant; it's a destination for those in search of culinary excellence in Naples. It stands as a beacon of delightful flavors, warm hospitality, and memorable dining experiences. For anyone looking for an authentic and satisfying meal, Salsa Brava is a must-visit. This place truly is great, and it left this "old boy" thoroughly chilled and...
Read moreMy husband’s boss recommended that we went to Amigos Café last night but when we called for directions found out that it was a long way from us. I had read the good reviews about Salsa Brava while searching on google and we decided to try it. We knew (from the reviews) that it was small and hidden in a strip mall. But the lady said just past Vanderbilt going North on 41 in the same Hungry Howie’s Pizza strip mall. So, we found it right away. Well, we were not disappointed. Both my husband and I are latinos. The last time I had authentic "tacos al pastor" as good as those was when I was a teenager, by the hands of a Mexican neighbor. I always searched for that authenticity in every Mexican restaurant I tried. If you want tex-mex, you can find it anywhere. But authentic Mexican? It’s very hard to come by. The food is not greasy like in other places. It tastes home-made, because it is. Even the refried beans didn’t seem refried. The chicken tamales were delicious (a little on the spicy side as a word of caution in case you are not used to it). They also have natural fruit drinks that you don’t find elsewhere, like guanabana, which contains anticancer properties, tamarindo and horchata, and some Mexican delicacies like "tripas", and pastries. The Owner, José, approached our table and entertained us while we waited for our plates. And as we talked with him we found out that he used to work at Amigos Café. We felt so at home that we are going back Saturday. This time for breakfast :-) Don't know, either "chilaquiles" or "huevos rancheros". He really needs a bigger space soon, and one that isn’t hidden from the world :-) But the fact that it is small makes it more personal. Buen provecho...
