Naples Park's continued ascent is bolstered yet again by this innovative fusion of the Korean, Japanese, Thai, Chinese and Viet inspired dishes - chock full of umami across the board.
The menu is expansive - almost too so - and overs a breadth and depth of options uncommonly found assembled in one place.
We were a five-top, seated closest to the kitchen access. The seating itself was comfortable and the room is well lit, attractively decorated, and spatially proportionate. I.e., "it feels right!"
Our order: Wagyu carpaccio, crab fried rice, Octopus (Robata'd), Bibimbap, Hokkaido Ramen, Tuna-pops, and two Korean Barbeque orders (short ribs & chicken)
Wagyu carpaccio: tasty. The presentation itself, while arranged and symmetrical, lacked a certain "color-pop". Maybe it was the lighting. Again, very tasty though.
Crab fried rice. Nice! It's always good to have such a dish with Crab and not Krab! This was a good balance of flavors. In the "everyone is a food expert" spirit, I would have enjoyed a wee bit of crunch to the rice to make this dish stand apart - but nonetheless, very good.
Grilled octopus. Winner. Frankly, we should have ordered 2 of them. Definitely tender and the accompanying Karachi Miso provides a great counterpoint.
Bibimbab. Don't know first-hand, but it looked great (crisp, fresh, arranged)
Tuna-pops: fun!
Korean Barbeque - didn't have it - appeared fine - I suspect a large part of it is the theatrics of the presentation and preparation. They enjoyed it.
Hokkaido Ramen (me): fantastic! Proportionate - well presented, hot upon arrival, full-bodied broth, perfectly cooked seafood ingredients. I even got my prole on and slurped the waning last inch of broth right outta the bowl. So good that commonly expected manners were dispensed with swiftly.
In all, this was the perfect venue to meet up with friends and enjoy a sprawling 2 hour experience over good food and atmosphere, laced with intriguing...
Read moreThe worst kbbq/"asian" restaurant I've ever been to. My table ordered a few appetizers to start which were all overpriced for what was served, a bland, unseasoned mess of ingredients and repurposed frozen foods, The potstickers where soggy and slimey, the crab ragoons had no crab and generic off the shelf chili sauce, the rock shrimp were not even rock shrimp, and the takoyaki had a ketchup based sauce and a gross almost tartar sauce "mayo?" and it set just a horrid standard that didn't get any better.
Our table ordered the wagyu board for our main course, and I ordered the drunken ramen, both of which had many clear issues. To start, the drunken ramen I guess lives up to its name because the kitchen must have been multiple bottles in to serve such an abysmal dish. The noodles were clearly straight out of a package, extremely greasy and sticky in the worst way possible, with zero flavor to be found and accompanied by raw onions, uncooked green bell peppers, which are bitter and once again, not seasoned, and sprinkled throughout is overcooked little leather scraps of beef.
The wagyu corse was fine, very overpriced at 169$ for a board of what I can guess was previously frozen meat, as it was extreamly dry with obvious discoloration allong all of the edges, and the accutramon that accompanied was all store bought already made pickeled veggies and watermelon for some odd reason?
The service gets a pass as it was very busy and a holiday, but they were still very inattentive.
oh, and the boba was horrible and basically water with more ice than anything else.
I honestly don't feel like writing anything more than this as I feel I've already given this place more of my time and money than they ever...
Read moreI was surprised to see this restaurant rated 4.5 stars, because my experience was unfortunately very disappointing. As someone who grew up with authentic Korean food, I was hoping for a genuine Korean barbecue experience, but it fell short in several ways. • Pork Belly: Served as 10 small 1x3 inch slices, and the majority (about 80%) was fat with very little meat. • New York Strip: Only 8 paper-thin slices for $28. At that price point, I expected at least a more substantial cut, not just slivers. • Spicy Beef Bulgogi: The flavor was off and tasted more like a Tabasco sauce than traditional bulgogi. • Ramen Broth: Instead of being rich and balanced, it had an unpleasant pork smell that overpowered the dish. I can tell they are just using ramen broth mix.
The staff did offer a 20% discount, Well before she offered me that I did tell her personally spicy beef taste like Tabasco sauce. And she straight up asked me “what do you want me to do?” And I replied to her “oh no I just want to let you know so other customers not get mad. I am going to pay full price.” But after that conversation she told me she will give us 20% discount. And I told her we don’t need discount but she gave us anyway. However, even with the discount our total came to about $90, which is far too high for the portion size and quality we received. For those seeking authentic Korean flavors or trying to connect with the cuisine for cultural reasons, this would likely be a disappointing choice.
I do not know who is the owner is but this matter — quality of food, and amount they are serving need to...
