EDIT: 23 Dec 2022 -- this location continues to be plagued by bad management. The staff clowns around too much under the direction of a seemingly immature/inexperienced manager. More recently, special request pizzas are often either forgotten to be made or made wrong. Still not nearly as tidy and organized as when they reopened in 2018 (see the first part of my review below). Pasta is not replenished frequently (at least not after 7pm) and the bottom of the pasta dish is sitting in a shallow pool of water causing the bottom layer of pasta to become mushy... And then until that nasty mush is gone, it's not replaced! Also... Don't make the mistake of asking for a water cup. You won't be given one. Instead, you'll be charged for a bottle of water and not told about it. You'll just see it on your receipt after the fact š Why is this location so difficult to operate properly?
EDIT: 1 Feb 2020 -- well, approx 18 months after the review below, we just visited again (approx 845pm) and tonite the restaurant wasn't nearly as tidy and organized as when it reopened in 2018. Pasta was a combo of overcooked & dry/chewey in the same bin. White sauce was a bit clumpy (yuck!) bread sticks were old and picked over. Dessert area was POOORLY maintained. Our custom pizza was great tho! Never the less, I'm not sure if we'll be back. See the NEW pics and how they compare to 18 months ago!
SUMMER 2018 - A yr ago, maybe two, this Cici's in Orange City closed down for a while. It was OK... A typical Cici's. And then recently the restaurant reopened. It had a complete makeover, and it appears there is a new owner/management team in charge. All I can say is WOW! This place looks wonderful and the buffet is always kept VERY clean. And the best thing is that the quality of the food is substantially better then it ever was before! There are new varieties of flatbread pizzas that are wonderful.. Tonight they were serving bruschetta flatbread and chicken parmesan flatbread. The chicken parm flatbread not only had chunks of chicken on it but the chicken is actually breaded and "fried"... Kinda like little fried chicken nugget bits. It was excellent. The salad was fresh and the salad area was cleaner than any Cici's I've ever been to. No salad dressing mess anywhere. And the tomato and Alfredo sauces that are available at the pasta and soup bar were very clean and no drips anywhere that I could see.. In fact durion our dinner, I saw the kitchen staff come and pull the pasta bar away from buffet to clean some drips that were not even readily visible to customers. The new ownership is obviously obsessed with cleanliness... SMART THINKING, and VERY WELL DONE. If they keep this up, I'll have to come back over and aver again...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThe restaurant was half full and clean when I arrived. I was greeted by the cashier who also was maintaining the salad bar. I order the buffet and got a salad. The blue cheese dressing was out and the salad bar had a limited number of toppings to choose from and only one type of mixed salad. The two salad bin were being refilled constantly and were not changed but refilled with fresh lettuce. There was no silverware to be found and I waited at the buffet for assistance. After several minutes another guest walked up and shouted to the servers chatting with the manager, āwhereās the silver?ā A cook with black T-shirt and no hat told him, āWe aināt got noneā. The guest said āSeriously?ā And the cook replied, āseriouslyā. This went on for several minutes with the cook telling the guest he had to eat with his hands because they donāt have silver. When I was getting really aggravated and the guest too he finally told him it was behind the drink station out of sight. Never did anyone approach me during this whole exchange. During my 45 min visit I only witnessed 1 person washing their hands and it was the cashier, she washed twice. I sat opposite the buffet and watched the manager make two racks of pizza and top them with cheese and pepperoni. He texted on his phone 8 or more times and put the phone back in his front pocket, used the register, grabbed bus tubs and utensils, and never once washed his hand or came out from behind the buffet. I have always known Ciciās for their hospitality but the cashier was the only one regularly greeting the guest. The restaurant looks nice with the new remodel but has no atmosphere of CiCiās that most people are accustomed too. I did not sample the pizza buffet during this visit. It was full and most pizzas were at least half most of my...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWas excited to see a CiCi's here, haven't ate at one since late 90's. Friday evening, 5ish pm, came in paid for 4 adult buffet's and a 10 piece wing. Hardly any pizza on the buffet, not that they were busy, maybe 10 to 15 total customers. Went to get a salad, not enough lettuce for salads for my wife and I. Kids ate what little pizza that was up. Fresh pizza hit the bar 10 minutes later...all good...right?? No. While we're eating the young lady played with her hair, then went about making new pizza. Kind of makes you pause and think at that point. While continuing to make the pizzas she decided to scratch her nose. Not turn away and scratch...just scratch...right over the pizza. We were done at that point. Got up to leave and my boys asked..dad, where are the wings? Oh yeah...the $12 dollar wings.... Got the attention of the above mentioned young lady and had her cancel my wing order, and process me a refund. It was easy to cancel, as she never put the order into the kitchen. She apparently is unable to process a refund, goes to the manager. While he process my refund, spoke to him about what we saw, he said she was new(ish), offered me a full refund of our meal. I declined as we had eaten. Just asked him to speak with the young lady about proper food handling techniques, he said he would. Seeing recent reviews, which I kind of wish I had read prior to eating here, the true "management"..yes you...the owner, need to make some changes. The staff you have is not capable and your shift manager is on his phone instead of managing his reports. Not sure if Florida requires a food handling course or not, even if they don't, would recommend you and all the staff here, YouTube the proper way to handle food in...
