Went to this establishment of pre-anniversary celebration. Honestly, I wanted some steak as well.
This was the first time at this location …. and the last.
The place was packed and a lot of regular details were missing. I was asked when I checked in if I was celebrating anything. I shared that that we were celebrating a wedding anniversary. I included that it was my wife and I. I received a weird gesture with my response but thought nothing more if it. Hello, we are in 2024!!!
We were finally seated towards the back of the restaurant and while reviewing the menu - that was smeared with food, I placed it back and opened another one. Out of no where, I saw something from the corner of my eye. Paid no attention until something landed on my wrist. I smacked it off and paid no further attention.
As I am trying to make my selection - the darn bug is flying around. I finally noticed it was a moth. It buzzed around me and my wife for the remainder of our time at the place. When the waiter came around…. It buzzed around him. He actually commented about it too. I was smacking the air in attempts to get the annoying insect away from me and my wife.
Ordered our food and beverage and we were eating the rolls. We received the beverages. we then realized, no silverware, napkin, nor cocktail napkin for the drinks. We brought this to the waiter’s attention and he quickly apologized and returned with the items.
I ordered 16oz sirloin, medium rare with a salad and a potato. My wife ordered a steak - well done, with ribs combo. Her sides were chili and potato. The chili arrived lukewarm. Disappointed, my wife just asked for a container to bring it home. I enjoyed my Cesar salad.
Our entree arrived after a substantial wait, and the waiter suggested to cut into the steaks to see if it was to our liking. My steak was medium well. The waiter saw my disappointment and immediately said I will have them correct this. He was mumbling as he walked away - 16oz / medium rare, as to not forget.
Remarkably, the steak came back quickly. One thing though - it was a 6-8 oz steak, not a 16 oz. Looking back, I think that they grabbed a random size steak, cooked it and plated it without any further thought. I said- this isn’t my meal. I ordered a 16 oz. The lady was dumbfounded. She immediately said, I can bring it back and correct it. Really? This was suppose to be corrected. She insisted to bring a replacement plate.
I explained - we are celebrating our wedding anniversary. We came to this location for the first time and it will be the last. I don’t want any plate at this point. You had a chance to correct it. All she kept repeating - I can bring it back to correct it.
I asked to speak to the manager and guess what - she was the manager. Jessica - the manager- looked like a dear in front of headlights. She did not give us the impression that she was trained well in de-escalation and showing some type of empathy.
I was not looking for any monetary discount, I was looking for a sincere understanding of how disappointing it was to drive close to 45 mins away for this. Sadly, as we left the place we passed her and she said nothing.
I blame management for Lukewarm food. I blame management for not assuring that the needed supplies to take care of the customers are not readily available. I blame management for not assuring that the tables, menus and condiments are clean. The annoying bug that hovered over us at the dinner table was clear indication that it wasn’t. The standard was not met. I have frequented Texas Roadhouse chain in 5+ states (MA, RI, CT, NY, GA and FL) and this by far truly was below my minimal expectation.
Jessica - my impression of you as a manager, you needs a lot of improvement. I hope that you get the support that you need. A suggestion - it just may be too hot in the kitchen for ya. Step down and go back to waitressing.

Read moreI’m really disappointed in my experience here tonight… first, our server was polite and friendly and personality wise, did no wrong but he took our order and immediately after was seen chatting with multiple different tables and by that time, my boyfriend had his cup of chili and was finished before he came back and served us our meals and didn’t even notice that I didn’t get my salad… I said something and he felt bad that I didn’t get it and went to see what happened…. Came back and said he forgot to put in a ticket for my salad and at that point I had my meal and my salad at the same time…. Not my favorite thing but I told him it was okay and not to worry… however, my salad was disappointing, it barely had any toppings with it even with cutting out 2 toppings I didn’t want…. My boyfriend’s steak was undercooked and by the time he got his steak back, I already finished my meal- both my salad and main course…. In that amount of time I thought they must have fired a new steak but instead took that whole time to recook it…. It looked like it was cooked perfectly but he had to spit it out bcuz it was too chewy and most of the flavor had been cooked out of it…. I wanted to say something to the manager before my boyfriend paid but he just wanted to get out of there and normally I praise the good and don’t like sending food back or complaining about my meal bcuz I know a lot of ppl ruin it for others and do it just to get something, if not the whole meal comped, but that’s not me… I just wanted him to know it wasn’t a great experience and my boyfriend didn’t even eat his meal…. My meal was cooked perfectly and was absolutely delicious, and I felt bad that instead of sharing a nice meal together, that wasn’t the case this time bcuz of our experience…. After we paid, I went to the bathroom and one stall was clogged up, real bad and another was a complete mess with toilet paper everywhere, the stall I was left with had a nasty seat but I cleaned it cuz I HAD to use the bathroom, otherwise I would have just walked out without using it…. It just summed up my night, and made me feel like overall the establishment is lacking in good cleaning practice and service… unfortunately, this isn’t our first bad experience here but it’s my first that I felt needed to be shared…. We will from now on drive the extra miles to go to the location in Sanford, as we have never had an issue there… we come to this location bcuz of convenience…. $46 for what we got, was not worth all the mistakes and hassle….. especially considering one meal was not even consumed…… I even shared my chicken with him bcuz I felt bad he waited so long and his steak wasn’t good…. I just wish something else could...
Read moreDecided to pop in last night cause it'd been far too long. Though we've lived in the area 2 1/2yrs we hadn't yet been to this location. We were seated quickly which was awesome.
Our server, Parker, was 10-stars!!!! She checked in at opportune moments, kept the drinks full without being asked, even went as far as to bring me out a photo of the last prime rib to see if I approved of the cut before finalizing our order. As a Chef and someone who eats out regularly, I can say I'm my 55yrs that's NEVER happened to me nor have I ever seen a server come in back and do it for a customer. She was cheerful, helpful, a lil chatty when invited to be and just an overall joy to be around. DEFINITELY ask to sit in her section!!!!!!
Their flavored lemonades are on point. The salads were crispy with no limp pieces and I will absolutely be trying to recreate their Italian dressing in my kitchen, it's a lil bit thicker than normal with a slight sweetness on the back end. The fried pickles were thin, crispy, not too heavy on the dill flavor with a perfect thin coating that stuck and didn't fall off in the basket fried to exactly the right level of brown and crisp.
My prime rib was cooked to my precise temp request, had the most amazing smoke flavor and was nicely enhanced by the horseradish and au jus though it absolutely required neither. I would've liked the horseradish to have more bite but I like things spicy so next time I'll likely get the raw not the creamy. The fact that they have both is great. I got the mashed potato side and was fairly pleasantly surprised that the gravy wasn't pure salt as so many establishment do.
My wife ordered the steak medallions with the mushrooms and a loaded baked potato. They too were precisely cooked to temp, danced well on the tongue and though she had it at the ready, she used no steak sauce. The lil cup of gravy that came added a small extra level of flavor that was outstanding. She kept the bed of rice they came on as a side and this was a bit mushy and overcooked but still had a good flavor. She couldn't eat it though. The loaded baked potato should be renamed overloaded LOL. It has everything you could imagine doubled. Her eyes popped outta her head when she saw it and was over the moon. She decided to bring it home as the perfect lunch for today.
Another outstanding meal and experience at a...
