From the moment we arrived at Deep Lagoon in Casey Key, we knew we were in for something special. Nestled perfectly along the waterfront, the restaurant offers an absolutely breathtaking sunset view — the kind that makes you pause your conversation just to soak in the beauty. As the sky shifted from golden hues to a soft lavender glow, the setting alone was enough to create a magical evening.
Our experience was made even more memorable by the exceptional service. Our server was incredibly attentive, knowledgeable, and warm — striking the perfect balance between professionalism and friendliness. Every question we had about the menu was met with genuine enthusiasm and thoughtful recommendations, making us feel truly cared for rather than just served. She even managed to train another server in the midst of this wonderful experience.
To start off, I ordered their Mai Tai, and it was perfection in a glass — the ideal tropical cocktail. It was strong but smooth, with just the right balance of sweetness and citrus. You could taste the quality of the ingredients and craftsmanship in every sip.
For the main course, I went with the stuffed hogfish, and let me just say — wow. This dish was a showstopper. The hogfish was delicately flaky and buttery, stuffed with a savory seafood blend that was rich without being overwhelming. It was topped with a light sauce that brought everything together without masking the fresh flavor of the fish. You could tell the seafood was incredibly fresh, and the plate presentation was gorgeous.
Dessert was their key lime pie, and it was easily one of the best I’ve had in Florida. Tart, creamy, with the perfect graham cracker crust and just the right zing — it was the ultimate way to end a perfect meal. Not too sweet, not too sour, just divine.
A special shoutout to managers Mike and Aiden, who both personally stopped by our table during the meal. They were warm, welcoming, and genuinely interested in how our experience was going. It’s rare to see that level of hospitality, and it really made us feel like valued guests rather than just another table.
Another impressive highlight was the open kitchen — sparkling clean and full of energy. It was amazing to see the team working so hard and efficiently while still smiling and enjoying what they do. It gave us a sense of confidence in the food and appreciation for the people behind the scenes.
We left full, happy, and already planning our next visit. Deep Lagoon at Casey Key isn’t just a meal — it’s an experience. Between the incredible food, stunning views, and heartfelt service, this is a place we’ll keep coming back to...
Read moreMarch 30, 2024 UPDATE An impromptu stop while boating led us to The Deep Lagoon, and we were blown away once again. The Connecticut Blue Point oysters were fresh and perfectly presented, exceeding our expectations. The drinks were spot-on, complementing the seaside atmosphere flawlessly. Kudos to our waiter for providing attentive and friendly service, making our visit truly memorable. The Deep Lagoon remains a go-to spot for exceptional seafood and waterfront dining.
Dec 22, 2023 On a stunning day with a high of 80 degrees and low humidity, we opted for an outdoor lunch at The Deep Lagoon in Osprey, Florida - a departure from our usual spot at their bar. The hostess promptly greeted and seated us, offering an immediate immersion into the breathtaking and tranquil surroundings. Our waitress proved both pleasant and attentive throughout our experience.
The captivating scenes of boats heading to the restaurant, marina, or passing through the bridge added an extra layer of charm to our delightful experience. Both of us settled on the Black Grouper Sandwich with plantains, each adding our unique twist - he favoring fried, and I opting for grilled. The sandwiches were nothing short of amazing; we devoured every delectable bite. While my only gripe lies in a soaked bottom bun, likely marinated in pickle juice, the sheer deliciousness overshadowed any discontent. Even with a wet bottom bun, every morsel was worth savoring.
Now, let's talk about those plantains - oh my goodness! Tender and sweet, they were a culinary revelation. I found myself savoring them as if they were a dessert, envisioning a "Plantain Brûlée" - a dish I've never had or heard of but imagined would be equally divine.
Whether arriving by boat or car, The Deep Lagoon offers versatile access. Today, we chose to drive, but the thought of arriving by boat (which we've done before) adds an exciting dimension to our future visits. The prospect of a waterside arrival further contributes to the allure of The Deep Lagoon, making it a place we eagerly anticipate returning to.
We didn't have any today, but they do make some pretty delicious...
Read moreFirst and foremost I will ensure to always make a reservation!! I didn’t mind the short wait we had because the building and decor were beautiful.
Now, this may seem like a complaint at first. It was noisy, my husband already wanted to try somewhere else after we were seated. My mother in law is almost impossible to please. Our table didn’t have silverware when we were seated. Hungry, happy hour has 30 minutes left, just missed the sunset, I really thought it wasn’t going to be a great experience.
Our server then came to the table. My husband made comment “of course we’re going to miss happy hour” she told him “not on my watch you won’t” “honey, I am here for you!” she suggested the wines and cocktails and my MIL was indecisive, our server was calm with her and explained the cocktails slowly with her(she’s 98) got our drink order and then Came back to the table in less then a minute with water and she even put our drinks in for happy hour!! She even came by 5 minutes before HH was over and my husband ordered another round for us! He was so happy to have had that second round of martinis. He couldn’t stop talking about how considerate and kind that gesture was. My mother in law absolutely loved her, both of their names are Carol! “Us carols have to stick together” that’s what she said at the end of the meal and my MIL ate that up!
With her knowledge of the menu she told us everything about the stone crabs, the speciality oysters and where they are from including their flavors. Carol was the captian of our meal! She recommended every item we consumed from the oysters to the sea bass followed by a lovely espresso martini while we shared a crème brûlée!
I cannot express how taken back we all are by the attentiveness and personality of our server. My irritable husband and my very particular MIL were engaging in cheerful conversation within 10 minutes of us being at the table! She is so hospitable and personable yet professional and we have never had service like that before. On vacation we will come back as often as we can to see ms Carol and the deep lagoon!
10/10 my best first experience at a...
