Charleens Cafeteria — Restaurant in Venice

What an amazing little gem! This was my first time trying a cafecito, and wow--it was so good! You can tell it's made with love and care, just like everything else here. We also tried the chicken empanada, and it was absolutely delicious. Every bite was packed with flavor, and you can taste the attention to detail in the cooking.

Charleen, the owner, is such a sweetheart! She made us feel so welcome like we were part of the family. The outdoor seating is also a great touch--it's such a nice spot to relax and enjoy your food.

By far the MOST BESTEST Cuban sammich I EVER had...pork was minced, juicy, and tender along with the deli style ham with cheese, and mustard with really good bread. Most Cuban sandwiches are so dry but Charleen really knows what she is doing. I also had a beef empanada which was fantastic as well. Only standing room in her shop (the cage is actually inside the bait shop) so calling ahead for pick up works well. The other day, We had the great pleasure of meeting Charleen!

She is located in the bait shop on Blackburn Road in Nokomis. There is patio seating behind the building.

Charleen is a wonderful cook (her menu is all homemade) and super friendly. Her lil daughter, Moochi, is the official dog greeter.

We enjoyed a HUGE Cuban sandwich and a beef empanada with delish cilantro cream dipping sauce. Smoked potato salad which we saw so many folks rave about wasnt ready yet :(
