My husband and I ate today at this restaurant and here is my review. It was 4pm so we asked for the super bandeja paisa to share. I guess I assumed a lot. The place was nice and the food in the menu looked good. However the stake was 1/4 inch thick cut alongside the grain, overcooked and hard. The two fried eggs were overfried and were hard. We asked for water that never came. They brought one plate and said they were to bring another place since we were sharing, the second plate never came. My husband was trying to get salt and pepper for the eggs but he couldn’t because there was no one around and they never came to see if we needed anything else. Still we asked to a tres leche and an espresso, the desert was served in the same plastic container from the factory that made it and with a sticker on with the address of the company that made it. No presentation at all. The least they could have done was to put it on a dessert plate for presentation. Furthermore, a 20% gratuity was added automatically to the check for service. However we never got the minimal service not even the expected and customary one. A month ago we were trying to make reservation for 12 to celebrate a birthday but they were asking for a $25 cover charge for a singer that we didn’t know or care for so we never got to make the reservation, I guess someone was watching over us that day. It would have been a lot of money for horrible service and food. Will never comeback to this place and will dissuade the people I told...
Read moreAvoid, Avoid, Avoid, my wife took me to El Gran Bamboo for what she believed was "Great Colombian Food". The atmosphere was decent. I ordered a Bandeja Paisa which brings several meats. I noticed the steak was cold but didn't mind since there were other meats in the meal to choose from.
My wife order a steak with no sides and when her steak arrived it was colder than mine. She tried to eat the steak but it was too cold, she slid the plate away from her and placed her used napkin on top. Our waitress noticed and asked what's wrong. We informed her of the situation, she offered to removed the dirty napkin that was on top of the meat and reheat the steak. Instead of offering another steak or a partial refund we got nothing. Not even a manager stopped by to correct the situation.
What kind of restaurant is this, I guess customer service is not a priority. I've never experienced this before, ever. We declined her offer to reheat the partial eaten steak and vowed to NEVER eat there again. We want to inform everyone of their atrocious customer service practices and to spend your hard earned money somewhere else. There are other great Colombian restaurants near by to choose from,...
Read moreWe came for dinner on a Saturday night and were asked if we had reservations. There were no seats available inside unless you had reservations, however there were seats available outside. We sat outside and we were given water and the menu. We ordered our drinks and the maduros mariquitas (green plantains chips) as appetizers. The drinks came and we had to follow up with the appraiser, which came right before our meals. The chips were soggy and limp, not crispy as it should be.
I had ordered the sancocho de costilla (beef rib stew/soup), which could have been stewed longer. I've had other sancocho where the meat falls off the bone. The potatoes, plantains and yuca could have been cooked until it was fork tender too. The mojarra frita (fried mojarra) was good.
The service was just ok and we found out later why the service was not excellent. We had to follow up with the appetizer and had to ask for more water a couple of times. When the bill came, there was an automatic 20% tip / service charge, which should have been disclosed before we ordered. No wonder the service was...
