Fat Katz Sports Bistro — Restaurant in Florida

Used to be by far the best place in town. Mouthwatering wings, the best burgers around by far, onion straws like no other, etc. Recently it’s taken a turn for the worse. The burgers just aren’t the same, the cooks struggle to cook them properly now and they are almost always not fresh when received. The onion straws are different from the ones they had for years, and they’re still good but just not the same. The service has also went way downhill, I stood with my family in the front of the restaurant (where there are no signs saying to seat yourself or any instructions on what to do) for a good 15 minutes with plenty of waitresses passing by us, before I finally went out of my way to ask one of them what we should do. We were told very rudly, “Did you put your name on the list?” She then points to a clipboard that was hidden away on the wall next to the front door. It would be nice to have some kind of sign letting customers know what to do when trying to dine there. Also the wings aren’t seasoned like they used to be, and aren’t nearly as good. I’ll give it one maybe two more tries just because it used to be by far my family and I’s favorite restaurant, but after that I’m done.

EDIT: Decided to go back and was not disappointed. Everything was good again. There must be a new chef in the kitchen because the food was all as good as it used to be. Only complaint is that the wings we ordered as an appetizer came out after our meals. Fat catz redeemed itself. Will be back. Hopefully they can keep it up. Also the fries, which have always been a bit stale almost every time since I’ve started coming here, were not stale at all this time and...

My wife and I have seen this place here for a while and always heard that the food was really good.

We weren't sure of seating as it used to be an old Starbucks, but I knew that there was seating outside at minimum.

When we got there, there was plenty of seating outside and inside, you seat yourself. The waitress came to the table relatively quickly and was very friendly.

The menu was bigger than what I was expecting; the descriptions on the menu made everything sound really good. I had a hard time deciding between the brisket or a burger. It was recommended that I get the Bistro burger because that has been rated as the #3 burger in the county since it came out. Also, for some reason when the owner makes it, it seems to be much better than when anyone else makes it. The server did say she didn't know why as everyone follows the same process, but for some reason it just seems to taste better when the owner makes it. So I followed her recommendation. I was very happy I did.

The fries were perfect, crispy and not oily at all. The burger was cooked exactly as requested. Everything that was on the burger tasted really fresh and good.

My wife got the shrimp BLT and said several times how good it was. We did learn that you can substitute the fries for almost anything else; however, if you choose the salad there is an up-charge of $1.50. But then again, the salad comes with bacon so that is definitely worth it.

In addition, we ventured to explore the culinary realm further by partaking in the "Hot White Shrimp" dish, which boasted an interesting combination of flavors. Although unconventional, this combination proved to be surprisingly delightful, showcasing the culinary prowess of the establishment.

While it became apparent that the staff were somewhat understaffed, I must acknowledge their commendable effort in providing service despite these circumstances. Their dedication to ensuring a pleasant dining experience is duly recognized and appreciated.

In conclusion, I recommend indulging in one of their expertly crafted burgers. The establishment may have its minor limitations, but its culinary offerings and unique atmosphere more than compensate for any...
