After stumbling upon Fonda Sabaneta on Instagram and being intrigued by its advertising, I decided to delve deeper and was pleasantly surprised by the glowing reviews I found online. With high expectations in mind, I chose to celebrate a family member's birthday at this charming Colombian eatery – and I can confidently say, I was not disappointed.
From the moment we stepped through the door, we were enveloped in the cozy ambiance that Fonda Sabaneta exudes. Despite its small size, the restaurant emanated warmth and authenticity, instantly transporting us to the streets of Medellin, Colombia.
The menu boasted a tempting selection of traditional Colombian dishes, each bursting with flavor and prepared with care. From savory arepas to hearty bandeja paisa, every bite was a culinary delight that reminded me of home. The whole menu is extremely affordable!!!!
The service, too, was exceptional. While I regret not catching the name of the server who attended to our table, his attentive and friendly demeanor truly made our celebration feel special. It was evident that the entire staff was dedicated to ensuring a memorable dining experience for every guest.
One thing to note is that Fonda Sabaneta tends to get busy quickly – within 20 minutes of our arrival, the restaurant was already bustling with diners, with a line forming outside. I would highly recommend making reservations, perhaps through OpenTable, to secure a table, especially during peak hours.
Additionally, Fonda Sabaneta offers a selection of Colombian beers imported directly from Colombia, adding an authentic touch to the dining experience. It truly felt like a piece of Colombia nestled in the heart of Miami.
In conclusion, my visit to Fonda Sabaneta exceeded my expectations in every way. With its delicious cuisine, warm hospitality, and charming atmosphere, it's no surprise that this hidden gem is gaining popularity among locals and visitors alike. I wholeheartedly recommend Fonda Sabaneta to anyone craving a taste of Colombia in Miami – you won't be disappointed. Thank you to the entire team for making our celebration...
Read moreDelicious food & even better service! Upon walking in we were greeted with a huge smile and sat immediately, the restaurant is pretty small but very comfortable. Our first server started us off with drinks and a tasty complimentary chicken soup, for appetizers we got the Tostones with chicharon and guacamole, the tostones was very crunchy and tasty, my favorite part, even better with the some lime on top. My mom had the Bandeja Paisa, she loved it and was satisfied. I had the Casuela de Frijoles, and listen, its A LOT of food! The bowl is huge and delicious, I couldnt even finish, I took some to go and ate, and still didnt finish the whole thing. Maybe I'll try another plate next time so I am able to finish it. Since its a small restaurant, theres no specific assigned server and the gratuity is shared between them. I didnt get the name for our first server, but he was very sweet, attentive, and kind. My mother did not speak English or Spanish, and he was very patient while communicating with her for her order. Our second server, Andres (I believe thats his name) was espetacular. He was also really kind and patient with my mother, but on top of that he was super personable, I got to practice my Spanish skills with him, we talked about Miami, how the restaurant industry is like in the city, and even taught him some Portuguese. I wish I had more money to tip him on top of gratuity, but next time I come back I got him with a fat one. Overall an amazing experience, delicious food, cozy ambience and espetacular service. Id definetely recommend stopping by as a tourist or local. Also, my mothers favorite part : all the servers are very...
Read moreI would give this place 0 stars if I could. At the Fonda Sabaneta on 72nd street, the food is alright and our waitress Jenny gave her self the highest possible tip she could on top of gratuity already being added onto our check without my permission. She purposely declined my card the first time I payed because I did not tip on top of the 18% gratuity added to our check. She came to our table 3 times the entire time of us being there, did not ask if we wanted any refills, and did not check up on us till after our food came out after we finished eating and we’re ready to pay, so 18% gratuity was fine enough it’s self. After purposely declining my card she took it again and all she did was ask me if I wanted the receipt. She did not hand me the tablet a second time after swiping my card to choose a tip option. After receiving my first receipt before paying, I went to check my bank statements after and noticed she gave herself the highest possible tip option that the tablet offered. Servers like Jenny should suffer consequences for stealing money from customers behind their backs. I will definitely NOT come back to this establishment and would not recommend coming here unless you want money stolen from you from...
