My family has been going here for over 20 years and now theyāre under new management. I went for the Grand Opening; food was good. But now I return with my daughter at 4:30 in the afternoon and I saw that the steam tables, with food in them, were drying up. The jerk pork and the jerk chicken were very dry and we asked if that was all that they had. The young man told me no, so I wanted fresh pork in the steam table. But the young lady that was taking care of us, Genevieve, wanted to know why didnāt I want the last of the jerk pork. So when I explained that the steam table dries out the pork when it sits there that long all day, she seemed to have quite an attitude from me giving some constructive criticism. You see when you put food in your steam table youāll have to come and toss whatever you have in them over. The jerk chicken was dry. I tried to explain it to them and she wasnāt too happy about it. Iām not returning, nor my family to something like that because she almost didnāt seem to care of how the food looked in the steam table. Iād rather go to Sangoās across the street. I rated this one star and lucky that I have to put a rating on it cause I would say zero stars. There was one kid there that was very polite, that understood what I was talking about so as I walked out, I look in the steam table and I see this square piece of something yellow; and I ask āWhat is that?ā. The reply was āThis is macaroni and cheese.ā. And I ask are you kidding me? And he looked at me and he knew that macaroni and cheese aināt supposed to look like that, and it was just one piece flying solo in the steam table almost like they didnāt care. The owner was there or was he the manager; he did not even come out the back because he knew what I was talking about because he was walking back-and-forth. You know how it is in the kitchen, and he wanted to come out to hear what I was saying or to try to correct it. You know how it goes in a business theyāre mumbling mumbling and they wonāt come out to the front to face what I was talking about; now they have somebody explaining to the guy who knows about service that has been in the hospitality business and this is how it turns out. So this is my message to you guys who are there. Always ask questions, look at the food that youāre receiving because a lotta people taking shortcuts giving you the last of the last and itās not right....
Ā Ā Ā Read moreReally I should have given you one star out of 10. No. Im Jamaican...& this restaurant which was referrred to me by my cousin as a great Jamaican takeout place. The restaurant I normally go to is across the street & it's name is SANGO. Okay Golden krust..... I gave it a chance and tried your menu items that I would only order at Sango. I ordered an oxtail dinner with rice and peas and plantains without the awful cabbage salad normally served. I also ordered 1/2 lb jerk pork which I was told was only sold in the 1 lb.containers, & 1 Patty. I need not tell anyone that my family has been in the restaurant business for over 50 years. This meal was so unacceptable, that I wanted to bring it back & show you that cutting an oxtail in half does not make it as a meal, when you are charging people for lbs. of bone & little meat. I should have known better. The jerk pork was okay, but I only wanted 1/2 pound & you give the customers no choices that's all you do. Enough of this review. I will never eat at Golden krust again!!! ...........SANGO restaurant it's the best Jamaican / Chinese take out restaurant there is in the entire South Miami-Dade hopefully this will make your choice is clear it's up...
Read moreI was very disappointed with my Large Chicken soup. I was craving some good homemade Jamaican chicken soup, so I decided to check out Golden Krust (Kendall) in Colonial Plaza shopping center. When I walked in the staff was pleasant and the restaurant was clean. There was a young man who greeted me and took my order, I asked him if he could add extra dumplin to my soup and he said yes without hesitation. I could not wait to get home to devour the soup⦠The soup was cold, had three tiny tiny tiny pieces of dumplin, extra salty like it came out of a bag or can, and just overall REPULSIVE. Needless to say, I did not have any lunch to eat. This is NOT the Jamaican chicken soup I know and grew up on. I usually drive all the way to Golden Krust in Miami Gardens at 183rd and 7th Ave, when I want to satisfy my Jamaican food cravings. I was very hopeful that with Golden Krust Kendall reopening, the food and service would be exceptional. Unfortunately, that was not the case. Sadly, I do not plan to return as I do not want to waste my time, money, and be disappointed again. I did call the store to let them know the soup was repugnant, and I was told a manager would call me back. I never...
