Golden Krust Caribbean Restaurant — Restaurant in Florida

I've eaten at just about every Caribbean Restaurant in Orlando, from Jamaican to Trinidadian to Guyannese to Haitian and I must say that Golden Krust is one of the best. I've given them five stars because when I compare them to other takeout restaurants in their category, they are right there at the top. Now at first I thought the food would be more commercial due to the fact that it is a chain restaurant, but I quickly realized that the franchise owners make a big difference. I've eaten at all three locations in Orlando and the food was very consistent among the three stores, the atmosphere was inviting and the workers were very pleasant. So if you want authentic Jamaican food that reminds you of home, give Golden Krust a chance.

Before reviewing this restaurant I wanted to make sure that I tried just about everything on their menu. Sometimes, a restaurant only has one good dish and if that is the dish you end up ordering then...you'll end up giving that restaurant a good review when it really didn't deserve it. So here goes: CURRY SHRIMP...Very tender, well seasoned, and not too spicy. CURRY GOAT... Was off the chain, although I'm use to it with a little more pepper, the meal was on point and they offered me the pepper on the side which made my day. OXTAIL...Arguably the best in Orlando. You want it tender enough so the meat almost fall off the bone, and that's how they make it. Reminds me of mom. CHICKEN DISHES...All the chicken dishes are tasty in their own right. I don't order a lot of chicken, but my experiences so far has been pleasant with the chicken specials. FISH...Unfortunately I have not ordered this yet, but when I do, I'll come back and tell you all about it.

Overall, I think this location along with the other two in Orlando deserves my recommendation. What sealed it for me was when my mother came to visit me and I didn't have time to cook and I ordered Golden Krust and she couldn't tell the difference between how she taught me how to prepare some of the dishes. Super disappointed. With such great reviews, I was expecting great food, but that is not what I got. Ordered the Braised Oxtail, Jerk Chicken, Beef Patty, and porridge. The beef patties were excellent and so was the porridge. The Oxtail tasted good, but it was a lot of bones and not a lot of meat. If it's cooked to falling apart, then care should be taken when placing it to ensure customers are getting things they can actually eat. It was A LOT of rice, way too much rice. If you're going to give that much rice then you need to give some extra sauce or something because it was so dry. The Jerk Chicken taste was good, but again so much rice and there was no juice or sauce or anything. There were a lot of splintered bones. Chicken should be cut at the joints and that's it. This chicken was cut multiple times on the bone. I'd suggest not cutting it at all. It was so hard to eat. Then there was the fact that Plantains were supposed to come with both meals, and we didn't get any. I also ordered a side of rice. Come to find out they forgot to put it in the bag and had our Uber Eats guy not checked we would not have gotten that either. Perhaps this was an off night for them, but the way this went, I'll have to pass on any more...

First I must say I am very familiar with Golden Krust coming from NYC, there are many Golden Krust restaurants all throughout the city and provide an authentic Jamaican Food experience. The food is amazing and although not a casual dining restaurant the food tastes just like home : )

So you can say my hopes were very high for my memories of home and what the food should taste like - and to my great surprise; The Food is Spectacular!

And not only is the food amazing, the customer service almost surpasses how good the food tastes. Yesterday I met the manager Mitzy by accident as she was the one who handled my order and she was very pleasant and provided me great food & customer service but she wasnt the only one, I was in the other day and the cashier as well as the young man on line. It is a rare occasion where you find the whole team in a single business with great attitudes.
