Hungry Howie's Pizza & Subs — Restaurant in Florida

Anyone who follows my reviews knows that I do both positive and sadly negative when so appropriate. Well, shame on Hungry Howie's Citrus Park. Over an hour and half to receive a delivery when we are just 3 minutes away this afternoon.

This isn't our first time having issues with this particular location but we firmly believe that everyone deserves a second chance and we can be very forgiving.

I understand that you can be busy at 1:30 on a Saturday and you may even be short of drivers but tell customers this when they call for delivery. Please don't tell me that my order will arrive in 45! minutes and I find myself calling after an hour and then you tell me the driver is on his way.

Then another 15 or 20 minutes later when I call back remember that I am not the bad person here. I simply am looking for a straight answer as to when I can expect my delivery. Possibly this may have been a good opportunity to admit that you were getting slammed and you didn't know a full crew or enough drivers.

When you in your own words say, "I swear to you the driver is on his way and I have no reason to lie to you" that raises RED flags when I didn't question if you were being truthful with me.

Funny that when the driver finally arrives with the delivery he says that he was a little behind but that he just was given the order a few minutes ago and he would have someone call to make this right. So who's being honest with me? Possibly the driver or is it the young person who has spoken with me from start to finish now 3 times on the phone. I suppose we may never have the answer but I know for certain that this will not happen...

They now have a fairly nice app (although Dominos is the gold standard as far as apps go) so ordering carry out is easier than ever with no time spent on hold. They have a rather generous repeat customer program where you get a free pizza after about 4 purchases. The cheese they use tastes nice but lacks a bit in gooey-ness even when piping hot. Really like the ranch crust, cajun isn't as spicy as it used to be years ago (that might be good or bad depending on your preference). All in all, everybody knows these aren't gourmet nor mom-n-pop NY style, but I just can't knock a single star off when the value is so strong at Hungry Howies, plus, they close super late. Used to order here all the time. Not the best pizza in the world but usually pretty good and fast. Today order a pizza and it had rotten steak on it. It seems they already knew because a few customers had already called and complained about it but they went ahead and delivered my pizza with the same steak on it anyway. They then proceeded to offer me a refund for the rotten pizza but not for the rest of the order which I had paid tip on. Needless to say, I will definitely not be ordering here again. Dangerous!

Update So after I wrote this review somebody contacting me and refunded me the entire order. They explained the difficulty they went through attempting to change the ingredients of the pizza with no success. Fair enough. Maybe I'll give him...
