As you start, the staff is amazing at walking you through each option whether it's your first time or if it's been a while. I've attached photos from a few of our visits, as we love it there. On one occasion, I embarked on my poke journey with a base of hearty brown rice, a choice that promised both sustenance and a subtle nutty undertone. I opted for a combo of two scoops of Ahi Tuna and a scoop of the tantalizing Shrimp Ceviche, offering a delightful contrast between the familiar and the novel. For mix-ins, I chose Furikaki and Edamame, adding a crunch and freshness to each bite, while the OG Veggies—a mix of Sweet Onions and jalapeños marinated in a blend of Shoyu, sesame and olive oils, and rice vinegar—brought a deep, complex flavor that was both zesty and comforting. The Wicked Wahine sauce, a dance of sweet and heat, painted my bowl with bold strokes of coconut palm sugar, lime juice, sambal olek chili garlic paste, and shoyu. For toppings, I opted for the tangy Pickled Ginger, sweet Pineapple, and the toasty crunch of Crispy Garlic, Crispy Onions, Sesame Seeds, Toasted Coconut lightly spiced with Togarashi, and Wonton Strips. The finishing touch was a duo of sauces: the spicy, sweet Ono Ono and the savory Togarashi, creating a flavorful crescendo. My husband Jason’s bowl began with a classic white rice base, a blank canvas for the flavors to come. His protein choice was a harmonious blend of Tuna and Salmon, with an extra helping of Tuna. Furikaki was his mix-in of choice, adding a traditional Japanese flavor. The Ponzu sauce, a gluten-free soy sauce mixed with fresh citrus, lent a bright and tangy note to his bowl. His toppings included the fresh, crisp Seaweed Salad, the briny pop of Masago, and the punchy Togarashi, all rounded off with the crunch of Sesame Seeds and Tempura Crisps. This combination created a delightful interplay of textures and flavors, balancing the richness of the seafood with zesty and crunchy elements. Together, we explored the range of tea, lemonade, and soda options. The Cola Lite, Root Beer, and especially the Cucumber Soda provided a refreshing counterpoint to our meal's richness. I love that unlike traditional cola, this had more a spiced note to it, giving it an unexpected edge to it that I really enjoyed. The Sweet Tea stood out for its authentic tea flavor, beautifully balanced with just the right amount of sweetness, while the lemonades were light and invigorating, not overly sweet, which perfectly cooled our palates from the spice and robust flavors in our bowls. As we neared the end of our meal, we were pleasantly surprised with a sample of the Dole Whip swirl. While my husband was quite satiated, I couldn't resist indulging in this sweet treat, reminiscent of the cherished Nokomis Groves orange ice cream. Sharing this nostalgic moment with the owner, we each expressed our sadness at its loss. Remarking how while nothing will ever replace the original, it was wonderful to have the Dole Whip option.

My wife and I were excited to try this new arrival to Sarasota and we were not disappointed. I have to admit that the selection and available choices intimidated me at first, but our server patiently and knowingly guided us through the process of creating our bowls starting with rice and then moving through a vast selection of salmon, shrimp, tuna, octopus, tofu, and yes, that canned delight, spam. That is just the first two stops in an amazing journey through topping after topping and sauce after sauce. I am not enough of a math whiz to determine how many different variations you could create, but suffice it to say you could eat here everyday of the year and never have the same combo twice. All of the ingredients were the freshest of fresh and the texture, crunch, and taste was even better than I had anticipated and my wife agreed. The staff was fantastic and we are already planning a return visit.

Ok, mundane, service from young guy - Hawaiian cuisine. My first time here. I don't know what to order. What mixes well with what. What I order was bland and not appetizing at all. It lacked flavor. The only decent flavor I got was the pineapple. I got a couple of sauces as side order. It was a take out order. I had to spruce up my dish in a frying pan with soy sauce. In the future I need to be prepared and I know what dishes to order instead of playing this guessing game and butchering the food. I wish to give this another chance and hope I get the wonderful customer service the reviews speak of and good selection dish. We'll see.

Since May 6 I have had the signature spicy tuna bowl, the first time I came in the server asked me if I wanted spicy pickles, I said sure, Since then I have asked for spice pickle everytime and was given it and charge 11.78 today the new owner (women) waited on me. Ordered the same thing with spicy pickles, she said I will give you spicy pickle this time, but next time it will be "build you own" and cost an extra 3.00. Needless to say, I will not be back. You are losing a loyal customer for a few spicy pickle add to my bowl. Also not once have I ever have the same server. Must have a major turn over. Again, for those 3-4 extra pickle I will not be back. You just lost a loyal customer. Very disappointed. I would of never even had the spicy pickle, but they were offered to me, so I got them everytime. Good Luck to the new husband and wife owners.

I never thought I’d be writing this, but I’m genuinely shocked at how far this place has fallen under the new ownership. I was a loyal customer who came almost daily, and the decline is crazy. The rice was totally burnt and inedible. The avocado was brown and oxidized. The fish and toppings were clearly not fresh. Everything that used to make this place special…fresh ingredients, generous portions, friendly service, and thoughtful touches like ice cream samples is gone.

Now it feels like the focus is purely on cutting costs at the expense of quality and customer experience. The portions are tiny, the staff couldn’t care less, and the overall vibe is unwelcoming. I didn’t just walk away disappointed, I walked away knowing I won’t be coming back.

You’ve lost a loyal, long time customer bc of careless decisions and a total lack of quality control. I hope whoever is in charge takes this seriously, because people notice and we’re not...
