Hrrmm... I recommend lunch here as they stop serving single slices at around five, which sucked cause their pizza slices are fire. For dinner once I tried the fried calamari. I didn't like it, but it wasn't their fault. Normally fried calamari is a good test for a restaurant. In this case everything about it was on point, except the slices were much bigger than I like, and that makes them extra chewy. Some people dig that style though, so I can't dock points, when the portion, cooking, and presentation was good.
I tried their Lasagna. I have mixed feelings about it. It was good, but kinda came with too much sauce. But the sauce is really good. It wasn't very meaty though, nor did it have a lot of ricotta, which would not have gone amiss.
Considering my recent experiences with poorly made lasagna at the various local wannabe Italian restaurants, the lasagna here was a breath of fresh air.
The service is good, but not great. The issue is the servers at lunchtime are on point, really take care of you, are just over the moon awesome. The dinnertime service was okay, but lacking some refinement. Like my waitress would come through and not check on me. Putting my near empty glass in full view didn't signal that maybe I want more, and I had to actually flag her down to get more drink... Twice. It wasn't particularly busy either.
She was very friendly though, and you shouldn't see this as a complaint, more like a possible culture or training issue. I mean, when you're working on a big meal like they serve here, it's thirsty work.
Summary: highly highly recommended. The slices of pizza are insanely huge, and the pepperoni and sausage is just out of this world. I've never seen pizza this good in Florida. The lasagna is respectable. The calamari is good if you like the wider cuts. Ohh, and the bread bites they give you...
Read moreWe usually order weekly from Slice of Life Pizzeria on Little and Embassy because it's close to home, but our main pizza spot is closed on Sundays. We ordered our pizza and knots from Joey's on Little Road and not only was the girl who helped me absolutely inept at customer service- the food was disgusting. My husband works for a pizza chain for over 13 years now and he told me that he instantly could see and knew that the dough was old, which is why it was hard, crunchy, and honestly disgusting.
I am not exaggerating when I say that is the worst NY style pizza we have ever had in our lives. I sincerely regret ordering pizza from here and "cheating" on our usual place- not worth it! I took two bites of my pizza and couldn't even eat the rest with as hungry as I was. The knots were mediocre. Speaking of the knots, I think it's important for everyone to know that their knots do NOT come with marinara like 99% of most pizza places you will get knots from (including the one we usually go to). I paid extra for disappointing marinara that was super runny and unflavorful.
I make it a point to leave more positive reviews than negative ones and can proudly say that is still very true, but we will never ever be ordering from here again. I should have honestly just taken the pizza back and shown them how disgusting it was, but having a one year old baby at home that is teething on and off and needing to be around, can't exactly afford that luxury.
I will say that when I've ordered from the Joey's in the Southgate plaza in NPR a couple times before, I would order 2 slices and a drink during the normal daytime week day hours when I was pregnant last year, and the blonde waitress there was insanely sweet and the knots there were amazing. If you really want to go to a Joey's, go...
Read moreI was at the restaurant on march 14th 2015 in the evening and when I first walked into the restaurant the young lady was nice as I ordered my food. I paid for my meal and sat down to wait to be called when the food was ready. One of the other ladies told me it would only take five minutes for a slice of pizza to cook and I ordered a small salad to go along. I sat and waited in the lobby for at least twenty minutes for someone to let me know my order was ready and no one called me over to tell me my food was ready or brought the food to me at the table I was sitting at. After I realized how long I was waiting I got out the chair and walked over to the counter to find out if the food was ready and of course it was ready just sitting in the bag. I was on my lunch break and I became upset for a number of reasons. I should not have waited that long when the food was already ready and the lady that took my order saw me sitting down and did not go to find out if my order was ready and did not say nothing until I walked to the order counter. If I went to any other restaurant someone would have called or brought me my food when it was ready. My opinion is I received the wortest customer service from the employees as well as the owner or the manager that I spoke to. As a result, I will never go back to the restaurant because I spent my money there and should have received better service. When I called the man that I spoke only apologized and ask me what was his he supposed to do? When a customer has a complain he should have never said that to me and offered to give me something in return for the trouble but he didn't. The food was good but the customer service I received was terrible. In order for a business to gain customers, the customer must have a...
