Recently ate lunch here and shortly after I started experiencing Scombroid Fish Poisoning symptoms. I called the restaurant with the intention of just letting them know to keep other guests safe. After speaking with the manager I decided I was going to have to write this.

I spoke with the manager and asked her if she was familiar with Scombroid poisoning. She admitted she was not but proceeded to tell me that they are required to freeze the fish for 7 days before serving to kill parasites. I explained to her that it is not a parasite from raw fish it is from improper handling and may have even occurred before they received the fish. I let her know that per the CDC freezing does not prevent scombroid poisoning. She argued with me and told me the health dept tells them to freeze it so it does. After that she proceeded to gaslight me and tell me I may have a cold...... My symptoms are rash, diarrhea, reddening and flushing of my face, neck, arms, and upper part of the body and legs, headache, difficulty swallowing, and heart palpitations... 40 mins after eating Raw Tuna... but sure maybe its a cold. I asked if I could have refund for the meal since the entire pill was $75. She told me no I have no proof besides you saying it. Go to the Dr. and then call me.

Here is some information from the CDPH to help.

How is scombroid fish poisoning diagnosed? There are no specific diagnostic tests for scombroid fish poisoning. Diagnosis is generally made based on symptoms and a recent history of eating fish a short time before symptoms appeared. If scombroid fish poisoning is suspected, laboratory testing may be done on any uneaten fish.

What is scombroid fish poisoning? Scombroid fish poisoning, also known as histamine fish poisoning, is an allergic-type reaction that occurs within a few hours of eating fish contaminated with high levels of histamine. When certain types of fish are not properly refrigerated, bacteria in the fish can multiply, break down the flesh of the fish, and produce high amounts of histamine. The most common sources of illness are finfish...

The service was awful, unfortunately Nat didn’t give me and my friends the best customer service, she started being rude from the very beginning when she was just taking down the drinks and neither was she patient, she was rude once again and also made a stank face when we just asked her for a refill and she didn’t come to the table to check if everything was okay at all, every single time we had to call her and wait awhile for her to come and even then she’d come with an attitude, very disappointed every time I’ve came here I never experienced this treatment before so I do leave very unhappy with her customer service this time. The food on the other hand you guys never disappoint, it was amazing and very fulfilling.

update 05/08

The service improved but unfortunately Miss.nat seems to be aware of my review about her and as honest as it was, I believe it caused her discomfort because as soon as she saw me she started speaking i’m not sure if it’s chinese or japanese to the waiter helping us and wouldn’t stop looking at me, because she’s making me uncomfortable by staring at me but not saying anything while i eat, i felt the need to stop to write this review and maybe this input will help her better her attitude, customer service and control herself atleast while she’s still on the clock, she can address anything else outside of work because i highly doubt anyone likes to be started at while they eat especially just for giving their very honest opinion, we are customers we’re paying...

I’m very disappointed with this establishment. Today I made an online order where I stated no peanuts or eggs as I am allergic. The peanut allergy is very serious thing. I picked up my order and noticed my receipt stated my instructions and the word peanut was scratched off. I figured that was a good sign. I sat down and poured my salad dressing over my salad when I noticed a peanut taste. I immediately went inside and ask them what type of dressing was I given and they said peanut. I then stated my instructions on my order said no peanuts. They said “oh no big deal we will just give you another dressing” I’m like “it is a big deal as a peanut allergy is serious” they went ahead and said “we can give you a new salad it was a misunderstanding no big deal” I stated I just wanted a refund and that it was very rude of them to say no big deal. They all looked at me like I had lost my mind and stated a refund was not possible. I asked them for a cup of water and they said something to each other in their language and were rude. I walked out at this point as I felt my throat tighten up and nauseous. They were very nonchalant about their mistake. I guess they might not know how a peanut reaction can cause someone their life.
