Neurotic waitress obviously hired by incompetent manager who realizes he made a not so good hire (that is if he's the one who hired her ) and she goes literally crying about every little thing. It was a simple order that she and he escalated to the point where I will not be returning to this location. Let them go the way of the Boca location; closed permanently. I mean the waitress is nice enough but she doesn't have what it takes to be in this position. Too flustered. And instead of helping her and training her properly the manager just exudes negativity and toxicity.
I dined in and asked for items to go and the waitress became flustered immediately. "We don't have a button to ring that up" referring to a small side of turkey gravy, "I'm not sure how to do that, don't have a way to do that " again referring to a side of turkey gravy. It's not the first time I've placed the following order and had no problems in the past with other servers ...Quart of matzo ball soup matzo balls on the side means quart of soup matzo balls on the side. Charge it however you have to charge it but don't bring me a pint of soup and two matzo balls in an empty quart. I asked for brisket triple lean. I have to ask for it that way otherwise all you get is a plate of fat from them. Funny how I was deemed crazy for asking for what I wanted and what I'm paying for. Guarantee you if I was a man those words would have never left the manager's lips to me in front of customers and other employees. Yes, the manager called me crazy at the front counter when he got caught escalating the issue with the waitress crying in his face.
The manager on duty said I had crazy requests. Is it crazy to ask for lean brisket? Is it crazy to ask for matzo balls on the side? Again I say charge me accordingly and give me what I asked for. If I was a man they wouldn't dare speak to me that way. And the manager instead of deescalating a situation totally escalated it in front of other customers. That's what's crazy. So you have incompetence leading incompetent. There was no need for that. I've been in there plenty of times and I've never had a problem like this... so I decided to leave all the extra things that I ordered behind and just pay for my items that I consumed at the table because of the manager's insolence. He told me that he's not the one to mess with that I've got the wrong one. He definitely is the wrong one, the wrong one for the job. I mean the waitress is literally standing there crying to him and then crying to Kristen, who I've never had a problem with. There's no crying in deli. Just a very unnecessary situation. I'll take my money elsewhere. And to the new CEO, good luck! You'll need it.
Unfortunately, this new neurotic waitress is making everyone else out to be the problem and that stems from the top which is the bald manager. I'm sorry I don't know his name that's the only way I can describe him. His tag only says manager, you don't see his name, I wonder why? Seems he has a lot to hide. This incident is not going undocumented. I know I repeated myself a couple of times but this needs to be heard. And the turnover in managers speaks volumes. Always someone new when I go. Well no more. I'm done. Once I use up this gift card that's it. They get no more of my business. And I tell you, if you keep this guy on as manager he's only going to drive it further into the ground and it's close enough to the curb as it is if you catch my drift. Asked if I could have toasted extra dressing, which would be the Russian dressing no coleslaw, substitute for sauerkraut supposed to be corn beef, turkey, roast beef, Swiss and sauerkraut rolled up with toasted bread. I then get untoasted bread, no Russian dressing I addressed it with her. She noted it as soon as I looked at the sandwich they didn’t toast the bread I said and the Swiss she goes. Oh, it’s there absolutely not and Barely any sauerkraut she takes it back. I wait probably another 30 minutes and she comes back with toasted bread literally two shred of sauerkraut no Swiss and no Russian dressing. she says to me my manager is taking care of it. No Manager ever came to discuss that it was incorrect. We did one hour and 10 minutes. Nothing came back. I got up because the waitress never came back 😡 went to the register and the gentleman, I said are you the manager he states hold on goes to the back of the kitchen short heavy set white lady with black hair short with glasses completely unprofessional comes from the kitchen with a unprofessional attitude. Hey, I stated to her I’ve been waiting over an hour and 10 minutes and all I want right now is my check for my son meal drink and onions rings that he ate because he finished his meal the whole time and I was sitting there waiting patiently you never came out I had to go The register to tell the gentleman that all I wanted was to pay the bill for my son. She rudely states oh we made the meal twice and I was like you never came out to rectify what was the problem and the third time never happened nobody ever showed up. The two previous orders were incorrect and you never came out to see what was the problem. She proceeds to come back with the bill and charges me and says this is your bill I said obviously this is incorrect because I never got the correct sandwich and I’m not paying for something that I never got not to mention you didn’t get it correct to begin with the two times it came and the third time never HAPPENED. The waitress went in there and repeatedly said where is the sandwich so I guess the short heavy set lady she tells me no I’m paying for it. I said no you can call the police or whatever and I showed her I said would you like me to add it for you because you’re in capable of having the correct price and she says I’m not having this conversation and walks away. I am appalled flabbergasted at the lack of courteous, however, having a nerve to put a meal on there that I have never received and had an attitude deplorable they can’t add to save their life. The waitress comes out and she goes. Oh this is correct. I said no it isn’t. I dressed it. I had to literally point it out get my Calculator out. She goes back to the lady in the kitchen and I tell her it’s gonna be on us. We’re taking it off at this point. I’m not trying to get free. I wanna pay for my son meal and never come back. She goes. At 7:47pm, I placed a very simple order of Fish & Chips and carrot cake from TooJays via DoorDash, but this was just the beginning of a nightmare. At 8:26pm the Dasher dropped off the order, which turned out to be multiple containers of soup, some type of meat sandwich and an unidentified piece of cake, NONE OF WHICH WAS APPETIZING TO ME, AND NONE OF IT WAS REMOTELY CLOSE TO ANYTHING I ORDERED.
AT 7:54PM I called TooJays to let them know, but they put the burden on me to call the dasher and have him go back to TooJays to pick up the corrected order. THE DASHER IN TURN REFUSED TO COOPERATE UNTIL I OFFERED HIM A BRIBE, AND THEN HE GRUDGINGLY AGREED TO GO BACK TO PICK THE OTHER ORDER.
At 8:52pm I called TooJays to find out if the Dasher made it back, but they placed me on hold before I could even say ‘Hello’, until 9:03pm when TooJays automatically disconnected the call because they close at 9pm. So, one hour and 16 minutes after I placed the order, TooJays, DoorDash, and the Dasher all had my money and I had no food, but I did have lots of aggravation.
At 9:47pm, a FULL TWO HOURS AFTER I PLACED THE ORDER, the Dasher finally dropped off the replacement order, which AGAIN TURNED OUT TO BE NOT WHAT I ORDERED! As a result of TooJays ineptitude, inefficiency and total lack of respect for the customer, I am hungry and aggravated, but most of all I am appalled! First thing tomorrow, I will be walking the two orders I received back to TooJays and will demand my money back. I am out nearly $50 dollars and I didn’t even get to have dinner.
And just to be clear, my horrible experience with TooJays tonight is NOT a rare occurrence. I’ve ordered from TooJays multiple times in the past and not once has it been without some type of problem. The issues seem to alternate between subpar food, poor packaging, undue delays, and of course wrong or forgotten items. Additionally, TooJays telephone is never answered in a timely manner and when they finally do answer, they often place you on hold until you get tired or mysteriously disconnected. Obviously, they are too busy messing up your orders!
As for DoorDash, it’s hit and miss. Once in a great while you do get a decent, responsible and reliable human being, but all too often you have to deal with individuals who don’t particularly care for the job they are doing. Mix-ups, carelessness and delays are the norm in the...
