I will start by saying that I love breakfast. As an intermittent faster, I will eat early some evenings just to be able to enjoy a good breakfast in the morning. So having visited Canopy Road on US1 at Old St Augustine and frequently hitting up First Watch, I was driving through the Walmart area off Racetrack thinking, "I wish there was a breakfast place around here." And there was Keke's. There are many things to love at Keke's and a scant few unfortunate items as well... but I will start with the good news. Firstly I was seated quickly and one thing I liked right away was it's all booths. So guess what. You're getting a booth! 1 point for Keke's! The service at Keke's is fast and friendly and my waiter, Ashley did an amazing job! She was pleasant and easy to communicate with and got everything out quickly and just as ordered. I got three eggs over medium with wheat toast and a side of bacon and the eggs were cooked perfectly! This is a small thing but the coffee cup and the water glass had a nice weight to them and the silverware was a good thickness. You think this doesn't matter, but thin forks say a lot about a place. Now a couple of small things for honesty's sake... The egg specials only come with toast and home fries. The bacon is a side you have to order separately. I would rather just pay more for the egg plate and have the meat come with. The home fries for me were nothing to write home about. They have that scalloped potato cut and resemble something an aunt brought for Thanksgiving that you just kind of push around your plate. Not crispy or particularly special... just there. The only other item I noticed was the unfortunate positioning of the windows. The huge front windows face east with no shades. This results in the rising sun just glaring through the windows. Some folks enjoy a lot of natural light... like a LOT of natural light!!! But it was too much for me. The good news is there is a big wall running down the middle of the booths, so if you're there and don't wish to be blinded, just ask to sit on the other side. Keep in mind other folks were just sitting in the sun, eating and chattering away, so it clearly doesn't bother everyone... but it was definitely something I noticed. Overall it was a solid breakfast experience with a friendly staff, good coffee, good bacon and perfectly cooked eggs for a very reasonable price! Good atmosphere for family or friends. I am not a pancake guy, so I can't speak to their pancake, waffle, french toast game... but if they cook them as well as their eggs, then you should be good to go.

Overall, a great place to go for breakfast with a variety of options. They also have a lunch menu though I have not had any of their lunch items. My first impression of the parking area was not great as I need handicap parking and in the whole lot for several businesses, there were 2 spaces at the far right end and on the total opposite side, separated by a very large water feature, so not exactly the same parking lot, there were 4 spaces. There are no handicap spaces in any of the parking area beyond the store fronts. It made getting into the restaurant more of a challenge especially on this day as it was raining. I can only imagine that those with mobility devices, such as wheel chairs, walkers, etc. likely struggle to reach these stores. This might be something for all of the stores in that area to discuss with the owner of the property? This was the only "negative" thing and not on Keke's directly but I did want to share this for other disabled readers. Onwards! The food was delicious. This was my first time eating here and I was a bit overwhelmed by the menu at first because there are just so many amazing options! My husband ordered the Philly Cheesesteak omelet with tomatoes and an English muffin. I "made my own combo" and ordered 2 pancakes, 2 scrambled eggs with white American cheese, and sausage links. Side note - their pancakes are very large! At least a solid 8-10" across and fairly thick. I will only order 1 next time! Everything came out hot and exactly as ordered. Our server was attentive though not very "chatty" which many people like. Not a good or bad thing, just is. He kept our drinks full without asking, made sure we had all condiments and items needed, and handled the bill quickly. I would absolutely recommend this place to anyone looking for a great place to go for breakfast or lunch. If you need handicap parking, just be prepared to walk/roll a ways to get to the door.

Disappointing is the word I would use after coming to Keke's. We visited during the Sunday brunch time. We expected a long wait time for our food but were rather surprised when the food came out relatively quickly. The server was also incredibly kind, friendly, and prompt, despite dealing with a slammed house. Unfortunately, this is where the good portion of the review ends as the food itself was disappointing. I ordered the cheesesteak panini with onion rings. My wife ordered the southwest omelet while our friends ordered the grilled cheese panini and the French toast. Ultimately, we all reached the same conclusion, our food was either incredibly under seasoned or had no seasoning at all. Without adding hot sauce or the "petal sauce" in the case of the onion rings, the food had no flavor. The steak was under seasoned, the onion rings had barely any onion in them and were mostly just tasted of old fry oil, the omelet had no flavor, the French toast and grilled cheese were both bland. The drinks, however, were tasty (we had the mimosa and the berry sangria). I would say everything was reasonably priced for a casual diner with the exception of the fruit cup which was $8 plus tax for a 3rd of a banana, some blueberries, two orange slices, about 4 strawberries and one chocolate chip that managed to sneak its way onto the plate. If you told me it was $4, I would say it was a tad overpriced, but $8 is ridiculous. Overall, I would say the experience was disappointing. Do I regret trying it? No. But will I come back? Also likely no.

It was a quiet Monday afternoon.....at 1:30pm. We had always wanted to try eating at KeKe's Breakfast Cafe; however, due to the pockets of people assembled outside at any given day, waiting patiently for their tables, it was always a no go.

Today was different. It was quiet, it was an hour before closing, on a Monday, it was the perfect time to eat at KeKe's -- or so we thought.

We gently pulled one of the two double doors open. It gently swung outward revealing a completely empty foyer -- a spacious foyer, with a hostess station located just off to the side. Upon approaching the hostess, we were asked for our name and telephone number and advised there would be a 5 minute wait. A 5 mint wait?

Just past the hostess podium an isle stretches out to the far wall. On the left, against a row of windows, was a about 7 empty tables. They remained empty, as if mocking us while we gave our name. We felt providing our phone number would be unnecessary.

The empty foyer, with it's spacious waiting area, provided ample seating while we waited. Gazing off to the right of us revealed more empty seats. After several minutes, a gentleman returned from outside and sat down -- he was waiting as well. He was ahead of us in line.

After 10 minutes we sat down. It was our opinion that the wait staff were all moving in slow motion, as if walking not through air, but is if trudging through thick, invisible soup.

We were presented with our menus. One page, double sided, laminated, menus with small print -- breakfast on one side, lunch on the other. The food offerings were great!

We placed our order....and waited...and waited....and waited. The decor looked dated, the lighting was dark, the mood was dreary, the employees appeared sad.

After a considerable amount of time, our food arrived -- plate by plate.... I guess as it was being made. How odd.

The food was okay. I'd say a 6 out of 10. Our waitress continued to walk at a snails pace and then told us that we should pay because she wanted to go home.

The manager asked us how our experience was and we told him. He was a nice gentleman who explained that they were short staffed. We explained that their existing staff seemed interested in going home.

All in all, I am not enthused. Having to wait for a table while over 10 tables are available is unacceptable. None of the staff seemed as if they wanted to be working. The kitchen was slow, and the entire experience...
