So I really like trying new food and restaurants. I was super excited when this one opened by me: let’s just say this did not really hit the bar. I think my first mistake was ordering online. I ordered 2 create your own bowls and I thought they had great options. They gave the option of some “premium” items which had an additional fee. Well when I got home I noticed my bowl and my boyfriends bowls were missing these “premium” items. Usually I wouldn’t be mad for items missing but because I paid more for these I was a little upset. They had lots of sauces but our bowls only tasted like soy sauce. Neither of us put soy sauce in our order. We did add it as a side in packet form. I would say also don’t get the onions. They were spicy and burned my mouth. (I am an onion lover)
The staff was a little unfriendly. When I walked in I was excited because they had just opened. The environment wasn’t really welcoming. I felt completely awkward and like they really didn’t want to serve me. It wasn’t like they were slammed or anything. It was a ghost town. I was just disappointed with everything and don’t think I will be returning.
I am not saying don’t try this place. If you want to definitely check it out. Maybe I just went at a bad time or an off night. I get people don’t always want to be at work and aren’t always in...
Read moreMy husband is a big poke person, unfortunately I'm not as much. So naturally he took me here lol Usually poke places make me super overwhelmed because I don't really understand what I want to put together and the people tend to look at me with rushed/irritated faces. The food may be like every other poke place but the customer service stood out :) Sean was our helper and he was so patient and friendly. He took time to explain everything and was willing to let me try a bunch of things. And he knows his stuff! his recommendations were on point. Another thing that stood out from other poke places my husband has dragged me to, Kona is not stingy in their servings. I appreciated the fair amount of food they gave me, especially for the price.
My only complaint would be the rice. I would not say it's a "sticky rice". It had the texture of normal long grain rice versus sushi sticky rice. That's actually the one thing I enjoy about poke places ( the texture of the sticky rice base) and unfortunately I didn't get it here.
Overall, I enjoyed my experience here! Thank you sean for your kindness :) sorry if i spelled your name wrong lol
so bummed I forgot to take pictures............ ! I...
Read moreI had lunch here on June 10 while running some errands around the Apopka area. I am a sucker for poké bowls or asian like bowls that incorporate fresh ingredients and fresh seafood. I had the Volcano Shrimp bowl, which includes their version of boom boom sauce. If you've ever been to bonefish grill, you know how tasty their boom boom shrimp is. My only pet peeve, if you can call it that” is that the sauce is put directly on the cooked shrimp but the sheimp is not coated. Granted, I know all restaurabts are different and not everyone is gonna cook it tge sand way. Other than that, the food was tasty, fresh, shrimp was clean, rice was cooked perfectly and fluffy. Lastly, the service was great. At least from the man behind the counter, Shawn. I worked in hospitality for many years and know first hand how terrible service has become since COVID. People don't smile, don't even make an effort, and we’ve grown accustomed to it. Shawn was absolutely great. I was sitting outside and he still came out to ask if we needed anything and was doing okay. I was not expecting that. Give that man a raise for just stellar service alone! I’ll def recommend this place to...
