We came today for lunch, we live in Orlando and often come to Tampa, and also to this location. I lost count of the amount of times we have been here because it has been a lot! But we do not regret one time! Today Yeilys took care of us like a super star! Really nice lady! She made sure that every single thing she brought was made fresh and we were happy with it because she came after to ask if we liked them. We had coffee and toast and pizza and spaghettis. Everything was AMAZING!!! There hasnât been a time that we come here and something is not exceeding expectations. Today, we were surprised with the size of their personal pizzas. While everyone is cutting corners and making things smaller due to inflation, this location just made their portions even bigger! The personal pizza is almost the size of a family one. And the spaghetti too! That was very nice! Plus Yaileys made the experience even better! She treated us sooo nice, like we were family at home! All the people that we have been seeing here throughout the bunch of years that we have been coming here have all been really attentive and professional. Kudos to whoever manages their staff and to the management and kitchen staff for making delicious food and not being shy with the ingredients and portions! Plus, they are constantly making the place cuter. Although this is an old building, the inside was remodeled and they decorate really nice and constantly adding/changing stuff. This is definitely our fav spot in Tampa for Cuban food and Cuban pizza. Totally...
Read moreI grew up in the Caribbean eating Rican, Cuban and Dominican foods so I am well versed in the food and stop at many latino places for a taste of home. This place is Cuban and has been around for quite some time. Food places many times go out of business so I stopped in to see why this one persists because I've never heard anyone talk about it.
I started with the Cuban Pizza. I have never found one I like and this one is no different. The cheese is different and the crust is always thick and chewy. What I do love is chorizo instead of pepperoni. Not for me but the Cuban people love it.
Next I had Breaded Palomilla with rice and beans, a childhood favorite. This one was ok, a passable version. Flavors were a tad off from what I am used to and the breading kept falling off. Again, it was ok.
The last dish was fried green plantain stuffed with shrimp in red sauce. As with the other items, just ok. Tiny shrimp from frozen or canned. Sauce was passable.
The draw for this place must be the nightlife. At lunchtime on a Thursday, the place was deserted but the prep work was a signal of things to come. An indoor and patio bar, seating inside, outdoors and in the indoor patio were more suited to a drinking and festivities. They have a stage and play various types of music like salsa, disco merengue...
