My family has been coming to Mama Jennie's for approximately thirty five years. We would eat there almost every weekend. I don't know what's happened but recently the service, food and atmosphere has gone downhill. A few examples: The wait staff is slow, they all walk around with "long faces" like they don't want to be there. When asked for simple items, they forget and have to be asked several more times. Mama Jennies used to have the best wait staff, we all knew their names and they loved to come over and make you feel welcome. The staff you have now seems to hide in the kitchen. For the first time in years our coupon which is spend $25 and get $5 off was not accepted, the waitress says the coupon does not apply to the Early Bird Special, well that's funny as we have been coming in with that same coupon for years. My fiancé is 93 years old and asked for angel hair pasta and was told it would be an additional $1.99, that's a real joke, you can't be serious!!!!! It only takes 3-5 minutes to boil al dente and doesn't cost more then any other pasta. A few weeks ago we ate the meat lasagne and it was made like snot, what happened to the nice layers of lasagne? Must have been sitting in the freezer for three months. Also, the famous rolls we used to love now show up to the table, pale, cold, under baked and tasteless. Where is the delicious mix of garlic and olive oil with the sprinkle of parsley? Well after our last visit, sadly we won't be coming back again. There are other eateries that would appreciate...
Read moreI hadn't been to Mama Jennie's in a while, but I wanted a pizza spot that was near me that could offer quality pizza and prices. I would have thought the prices for pizza would be fair if the sizes matched, but they don't. The atmosphere is nice and open, but not really too lively (which is okay). The employees were nice though and were attentive to my needs.
Here are my critiques of the food:
Their SMALL pizza looks more like a personal, the LARGE is just a joke. It is essentially a small sized pizza (which I paid around $20 for) and the XTRA-LARGE is like a medium. On top of the weird sizing and pricing, they make the pizza thin as f*, which is just a no. Please change to normal sized pizza and get rid of the thin style. One last critique are that their garlic knots taste bad. The bread taste like it was aged and came from a deep freezer. They left a weird after taste that did not seem fresh or like garlic. Like...how do you mess up bread...and garlic...smh.
Overall, in my opinion, it's more worth it to go to another pizza spot that will offer more substance for around the same price (maybe like $5 more at some places). I'd even be better off ordering from a Little Caesar's or Dominoes, etc. I'm highly disappointed and probably will not be returning. Get...
Read moreUsed this restaurant to cater a small surprise party two weeks ago and would NOT RECOMMEND THEM TO ANYONE. First – one plate was not delivered. Second - was talked out of ordering Sternos to keep the food warm. Third – was told that the food would be brought in warming boxes and that we would be allowed to keep them until I returned them the next day as opposed to getting Sternos. They ended up taking the boxes with them so the food was cold when it was time to eat. Lastly – I have called 4 TIMES since that day to talk to someone about getting a refund for the dish they did not bring and was told each time that the catering manager would need to call me. To date no one has called. This, more than anything else, is DISGRACEFUL AND UNPROFESSIONAL. Being from out of town, choosing them via a recommendation and not knowing any better – to me this smells of a restaurant in decline who do not care about doing right by their customers. It was DISAPPOINTING AND EMBARRASSING for me to have a party with cold food and a missing plate (spaghetti and meatballs) which was a favorite dish of many of the guests. Do yourself a favor – stay away from this...
