There's this vibe I get from MassageLuXe and the 4 stars isn't to say it's bad. I actually enjoyed my experience here. For what it's worth however, just some points moving forward.
I came here on a Groupon for a couple's massage as a new visitor. Jaron (person I spoke to on the phone) told me after booking the appointment to come 10 minutes before to give my initial info.
So logically, that would be at 0950. On a Sunday. What time do they open on Sunday? 10. I walk up at 0950 and no one is there for this pre-entry of info until 10. Which wouldn't really be a problem, it's just that it rained this Sunday and it was windy so I'm expecting to bolt out from the rain into the lobby to be greeted by a locked door. Not a big deal, just something to note.
The actual massage was great. My girlfriend had Travis and I had Maritza (I think that was her name). Great relaxing massage overall, well worth the hour. Next was our HydroLuXe and it wasn't breathtaking for me but I enjoyed it (my girlfriend not so much).
Finally as we're leaving they (Jaron and the other woman I didn't see her nametag) were pitching the membership as I figured they would, and - let me preface by saying this - I don't think it's a bad deal. It's just not something I would say is worth it for me. That being said, we rejected the pitch and the woman asked why we didn't wanna sign up today. That's fine, we had to think about it. However, there's this game that salespeople tend to play and that's sort of to repeat the pitch with different wording and make it feel like you're losing out on deals by outlining that without taking the offer, you'll be paying more for the initial visit.
I'm well aware of that. But it was a Groupon so it was a deal on its own. I guess what I'm saying is, there's a limit. Nothing wrong with a pitch (2018, gotta shoot your shot), but if we tell you no, and tell you why, I feel like at that point you should lay off. Turned what was initially a 5 star review into a 4 star.
The vibe I mentioned makes the massage feel luxurious, which lends itself to more rejection when pricing the membership as a commodity. Most people see a massage as something you treat yourself to, not something you're gonna have to make time each month to do like a necessity. Thats why I chose not to sign up. Just something...
Read moreI had made an appointment for 9am but something came up. I knew a different location had an availability at 12pm and that the Pembroke location was fully booked until 3pm and I could not make it at 3. I called the Pembroke location many many times to cancel but no one answered the phone. On the day of I got a call at 9:05 saying I had missed my appointment and asked if I wanted to reschedule for 3pm. I asked to cancel because I was making an appointment at their sister location for 12pm. The lady said that I could not and that there was a 2 hour cancellation policy so I would have to pay full price either way then pay AGAIN to go to the other location. I explained that first off I did call well before the time frame but had not been answered, second I was never made aware of a cancellation policy. So she said “did you leave a voicemail?” Like no. I didn’t know I had to. She then said it was made clear to me when I made the appointment and again when they confirmed my appointment. Let me tell you that it was never mentioned and that I never received a confirmation call/text/email. She then said that the 3pm was my only chance. I told her I could not make it at 3 and she said I had until 3 to change my mind. After we hung up I went to call my bank and immediately got charged for the full spa service. I angrily called back and asked why and she said “well now if you show up it prepaid” like what?? Luckily I have a great bank that worked quickly to get...
