Me and my boyfriend came here while visiting Fort myers for the weekend and we left a bit disappointed. First the service was good and fast so no complaints there! Our drinks came out with no ice in them, so the apple juice i ordered was room temperature and had to ask for ice which wasn’t a big deal! While looking at the menu we noticed the prices were much higher than what we saw online, which was one of the main reasons we came as most other places in the area seemed expensive (most likely due to inflation + its a touristy area so i understand!) I ordered the belgium waffle with strawberries and he got a waffle, french toast and we shared 4 pc bacon. The first thing I noticed was how sad/old the strawberries looked, not sure if they were frozen or not as they tasted pretty dull and seeds were getting brown. This was disappointing as they were $1.50 extra and advertised as “fresh” on the menu. The waffle was ok, bland but fine with butter and syrup. The bacon was good and crispy, although small, which was the theme overall. It was not very filling and with the total coming to $48 after tip, i definitely felt like it was not worth it. If you’re looking to splurge on breakfast, I’d go somewhere like Keke’s cafe where you can get a quality meal, big portions, and prices that match. It definitely felt like something you could make with the most basic ingredients considering you’re not on vacation. We were pretty bummed because trying new local restaurants is one of our favorite things to do while traveling, and we were hoping to be impressed. I understand the cost of food/service has gone up, but i would recommend investing in higher quality ingredients to...
Read moreFor many years I have been a longtime customer of Marko's Diner. It was always a great place to grab a breakfast and feel welcome with the previous ownership A real "Cheers" type place. It has been under new ownership for a year or so and as much as I hate to say, it just does not "Cut The Mustard" any longer. It's not that the waitresses are not friendly, they are. It's simply the cook... I have frequented Marko's 25 or 30 times since the new ownership and it seems he still can not cook an egg anything other than runny even when you request an egg well done... Hash browns the same, "Every time"... "No Coke...Pepsi"... I then decided for the first time to order an western omelet without onion or ham and I still got onion. The waitress was extremely busy and I tried to pick the onion from the omelet and when I showed the onions on the side, the waitress checked to see she had written down the order properly which I knew already. She alerted the cook of the issue and said the cook's reply was I had eaten the omelet and there would be no credit which was not my concern. I did care he did not apologize for the error and express he would strive to do better... In years gone by, under the old management, it would have been different. Some say Marko's is a great value, but I believe it's only a great value if the food is prepared properly and the waitresses are not having to apologize for the cooks deficiencies....
Read moreIf you have no allergies, and are looking for a place that provides cheap, pre-made, frozen cafeteria food then Markos might be the place for you! Immediately upon arriving my family and I were seated at a dirty table when there were several other clean options available. Next up, the waitress we had (young lady with star tattoos on her neck) had zero understanding or empathy towards my mothers allergy accommodations. In fact, when asked if anything in the restaurant was gluten free, we were just told “no” - really? A place that serves eggs, fruit, different kinds of meat does not have one item on the entire menu that is void of wheat. Anyways, the waitress proceeded to dismiss my mother without offering any alternatives and left a sour taste in everyone’s mouth, as mom had to watch her family eat and was left hungry after we came here to eat a full breakfast. Anyways, there was nothing redeeming about this experience, and I can understand that for the average Joe, they could probably come here and get their coffee and toast and not have any issues. But this experience...
