First let me say we just moved back to Melbourne from Tampa and enjoyed Metro Diner in Tampa tremendously. So we were excited that there was one less than 5 minutes from us here in Melbourne.
With that said, our first visit was a debacle. I will say this is not a review on their food since we didn't even make it that far. It's nice to see all the 5 star reviews and usually I would be happy to give a review like that...not so much this time.
We arrived on Sunday (1/8) just after 12pm. We knew it would be a little busy but since Metro in Tampa is so good we decided to try it. The hostess told us (a party of 2) it was a 15-20 minute wait...ok, no problem. It's slightly busy so understandable. There were 3 parties ahead of us already waiting, 2 parties of two and a party of three. Literally as we had entered the diner another party of 2 had parked their car so they entered a couple minutes after us and went back outside to wait. The three parties ahead were seated, so we were next...NOPE, they skipped right over us and sat the other party of 2 that came in after us, as we are sitting 5ft from the hostess. Ok...maybe just an oversight, I'll be cool and wait. A party of 3 enters after they parked their car (mind you this is after about 25 minutes) and she seats them immediately...alright, now Mr. Cool is isn't so cool. About 5 minutes later they casually seat us...yea, not happy BUT I like Metro food so I'll let it slide. We sit down and thank them...5 minutes (cricket noises), 10 minutes (cricket noises)....sooooo, apparently we don't have a server. This place isn't that big, we are literally watching the servers walk by casually chatting at the service station, etc. So after 10+ minutes of waiting at our table we decided...hey, Twisted Fin a few doors down looked decent, and guess what Twisted Fin was great, I'll definitely be going back there. Metro, you ask? Nah...I don't feel like spending 40 minutes of my day staring at the staff for no particular reason...I can spend my...
Read moreI want to begin this review by praising our waiter Wally who is always amazing and friendly! The food has always been good. Today, I had family visiting from out of town and we came for lunch after church. My aunt mistakenly ordered a loaded burger “bowl” instead of just a loaded burger. Wally was happy to accommodate and change her order and she was willing to pay for both. When Wally took her burger bowl to the cook line, one of the girls on the line rolled her eyes and I just looked that way and another girl on the cook line very sarcastically said “hi” and I said hi back. It was very obvious they had an issue with the order change. When Wally came back we asked who the manager was and he said he would get her. When the manager came over we learned that she is actually the one that was on the cook line that sarcastically said ”hi”. She introduced herself as the managing partner and she asked if we had a problem and my husband said “well our problem is with you so we don’t want to talk to you about it, you were very rude”. She said that she was the only one to talk to, my husband asked her to leave our table so we could finish eating. She would not leave and was very unprofessional and pushed down on my cousins shoulder with her finger and said “she was pointing to the kitchen” and my husband was trying to explain our issue but she wasn’t willing to listen and just kept trying to argue with him and put her hand on him as well and he told her she better not touch him again and then she told him to leave her diner, which he did with no issue. Wally was upset to the point of tears because he was embarrassed by the actions of his coworkers and manager. We assured him that he did nothing wrong and his service was amazing as always. It is very unfortunate that Metro Diner has Brittany as their...
Read moreWon our family over, just in a matter of minutes. We unfortunately went down the road to a breakfast location during dinner time and just had all around bad service, with issues also in the past. Suggested to my wife that we come here to Metro Dinner, knowing that she absolutely loved the other place. When the other place was not up to par, my family actually walked out of the other place before having our order taken. Walked in the door of Metro Dinner and was welcomed not even 5 secs of walking in the door, with the other place approx 3 minutes. The waiter was on top of things, with not even knowing the experience we had just moments before at the other location. If he didn't have an answer he asked his team. If they where able to think outside the box to have are request happen, they were willing to work as a team to make it happen. We found that we where getting a great menu selection, more food then the other place, and it was clean! Even cheaper with higher quality!
Now the last time we went here was during the soft opening years ago, and didn't come back in no fault of the place itself. I'm glad I suggested this to the family, as we now have a location that the team is happy to work there.
Also while there we had a family sitting near us, that had someone with a disability, You want to see a team that was willing to work with them and made it even a great experience for them also. They worked with them as like the person didn't have a disability at all and will commend the whole team. This is a location that should stick around in Viera not like the...
