Mojo's is a frequent for us because Kid's Eat Free on Wednesdays and it's in between dance and home and mama doesn't have to cook! From the bar, Staci's Huckleberry Mojito is more like an adult lemonade and is wonderful! Their Onion Rings are huge in size but the Fried Pickles are a bit heavy on the breading. We sometimes get the Boom Boom Shrimp because my hubs will try anything similar to Bang Bang Shrimp. It's a fight between him and my daugher as to whose fork gets the most. My go-to entree is the Mojo BBQ Salad. They have some of the freshest lettuce, cucs, and tomatoes. And their jalapeno cornbread croutons! Extra please! Don't let the word jalapeno scare you off, you've got to try them! I love their turkey - I've never experienced it dry. The beef is delicious as well. Their Mac & Cheese is delicious as is the Sweet Potato Mash - mashed sweet potatoes with baked in cinnamon sugar and nuts. More like a dessert than a side. And their fries! Oh Lordy! Hand cut! Their Garlic Cheddar Grits aren't either garlicy or cheesy...but still good. We rarely have issues when we go, and by rarely I mean maybe once when the beef served was overly chopped and super fatty. No way my foodie daughter was touching it. But, they did switch it out and bring us a serving that was more to her liking - aka more meat and less fat. With the kid eating for free, it's generally a $30'ish meal here if we do not get an app or bar drinks. It is more expensive than your typical BBQ restaurant....or at least, what comes to mind for prices. I did start waiting tables at Woody's BBQ almost 20 years ago! Prices then for a meal were $8.99'ish...they're about double that at MOJO's with $15 being the average price for a dinner entree. *The Shrimp & Grits here is a no-go for me. Too oily, the shrimp are small, and the flavor is just....nope...
Read moreWent for the first time on a Friday night between 7 and 7:30. There was only two of us so we got a table right away. We were provided with menu so we looked that over. Prices were not cheap but they were not extravagant either. We sat there for a while with no waiter so the man that set us down noticed and came over to the table. He took our drink order and our appetizer. Thankfully he advised us that there was a half order of onion rings, which is what we wanted for our appetizer, because it turned out the full order was humongous! Silverware was an issue as it took a while for them to get those to the table. After that the experience was wonderful. We ordered the meal with all the meats so we could try them all. The ribs, chicken and turkey were fantastic. The brisket was a little on the tough side but it tasted good. The pork was disappointing because it was shredded, bland and I would rather have had it sliced. The sides we had were salad, baked beans, french fries and the corn. Which were all good. They also provide a wide variety of sauces on the table. They had live music too that night and we really like that. Although the place gives the impression they a Blues place, this guy sang a mixture of country and southern rock which was fine. it was still good. All in all an...
Read moreMy wonderful fiance decided to swing by and pick up some barbecue before I have dental work done the next day and can't enjoy such things. Very thoughtful indeed. We are both very disappointed with the quality of the food. I had a chopped brisket sandwich which was poor quality than one you would get at a your average gas station. The cheese grits and baked beans that were the sides had so much garlic. Bear in mind, I'm a garlic lover that they were inedible. We've both treated each other to lunch there and the food was solid but after that eating experience would have a very hard time ever returning to the chain. Much less that location. I understand barbecue is typically best from 11:30 to 1:00 in the afternoon, but we would have been better off going to the prepared food section of a grocery store making our own. With so many restaurants closing down, one would think a pride in the quality of food, especially with a considerable price tag for a barbecue place. Better care would be taken especially with a price tag higher than many...
