I'm a local & had high hopes for this place. I ordered a biscuits & gravy (with 2 biscuits), a side of sausage patties, & a sweet tea. After about 5 minutes, the waitress came out with a "stumped" look on her face & explained that an order comes with one biscuit (cut in half). She upsold me an extra biscuit & a side of gravy. After about 25 minutes, my biscuits came out minus the sausage patties. The restaurant was less than half full of patrons with 2 waitresses. I reminded her of the patties, & she returned to the kitchen. The gravy was a bit bland, but the biscuits were tender. When I was down to my last half of biscuit, she brought out 2 small, burnt sausage patties that were bone-dry all the way through. In all fairness, I did get one refill on my small sweet tea. The tea was the best part of the meal, so I figured I should mention it. The bill came to $24.03 for biscuits & gravy, a side of burnt sausage patties, a sweet tea, bad service, & a long wait. (Maybe I'm just spoiled on Joe & Eddie's.) Having worked in the hospitality industry for many years, I always start with a 20% tip for average service & then add or subtract from there. I would have given this server a negative tip if I could have, but I put $25 on the table & left because I didn't want to wait another 20 minutes for 97 cents in change. I don't write many reviews, & never a bad one unless the experience left me feeling much worse than when I came in. I will not be back. Buyer beware. I really wanted this to be my new...
Read moreFairly quiet place for breakfast. Wasn’t very busy and staff was friendly. Surprised by all the reviews speaking of portion size the Kaan waffle was $15 and it was a thin waffle with Nutella, strawberries and blueberries. Waffle tasted good, personally I wouldn’t pay or recommend for the price point. Also ordered the Elif’s healthy breakfast and for $14 it was 2 scrambled eggs with some veggies and a biscuit. Serving size was 1/4 of the plate, didn’t have any meat and a smaller portion size for the cost. For 3 people with only a cup of coffee and 2 waters it was $71 for a pretty basic breakfast meal. Tasted like canned corned beef hash. The biscuits I would say were the best value and delicious. I wouldn’t come here again nor recommend for the cost. Wasn’t even offered a refill on the cup of coffee.
Two other things to note: bathrooms are outside the building They charge an additional 5% credit card fee which is one of the highest I’ve seen, which I didn’t see any signs...
Read moreGreat breakfast place! We picked this for our breakfast based in proximity to our house and the variety of foods offered. We had a attentive and kind waitress, Teresa who told everything was good. And everything was GOOD! We had BLTs, pancakes, and sausage gravy biscuit. The BLT had bacon that was just crisp enough with fresh tomato and the right amount of mayo. Teresa's recommend for my husband to try a bit of hot sauce on his biscuits and gravy-he said it was so good.
The pancake was shaped into a mickey mouse silhouette and was perfectly fluffy and golden.
I had a side of grits which were creamy and perfectly seasoned-no additional saltn pepper, or butter needed.
Will definitely come back for breakfast on our next beach trip.
The restaurant is in a smallish older building in an older part of Fort Walton. I wouldn't let its humble appearance sway your decision to try the...
