NICE Shaved Ice Cafe & Boba — Restaurant in Florida

1/4/2020: 3 stars. Still quite pricey even after they readjusted their menu after the previous review update. They were tasty, and in the beginning we were going once a week. Now, after they increased their prices, we might only go once every few months just to see if they’ve made any changes. But I doubt it will go back to the format and pricing that it was before. It’d probably cost 2x as much now to get the same exact half-sized bowl that they used to have when they first opened. I’m hoping they make some more improvements and figure out a better pricing and menu structure so that they can become our go-to dessert spot once again. ——

11/12/2020: 1 Star due significant increase in price and format of menu offerings. [Lengthy review update removed due to space and to provide a new update above.] Originally 5 star review from 10/31/2020: We’ve been here about 7 times since they’ve opened only about a month ago! I usually get the half shaved ice, with red bean, strawberry and mango. Light, simple, and refreshing treat that hits just the spot. Waffle was ok, but I prefer the shaved ice. It’s not your typical “American” style or “Italian” shaved ice, because there are not different flavors for the ice. It is an Asian style shaved ice, which is fluffier and creamier, with a sweet cream syrup on top. The main “flavoring” is the FRESH fruit and other toppings, which they don’t skimp on. I wish they had some sort of loyalty card - we’ve come at least once a week since...

UPDATE to original Five Star review. We went back for our weekly visit and discovered they have made some extensive changes to their menu - adding flavors and toppings that I think were necessary to get some more patrons in. However, they have also removed an option they used to have for a half shaved ice. The full size is too much and too expensive for an amount we won't fully eat. The half was just the right size for a single person. Now you either have to order too much at a higher cost, or share - whereby you have to want the exact same toppings as the person you are with. The product is still delicious, but they are no longer offering it in a way that makes sense to order. We might go back again in the future to see if they bring back the half portion, but if not, then we will not be ordering or returning after that. Stop in tonight for the visit time, looking for somewhere fun to take my two girls. We loved the “be nice” sign and the outdoor sitting option. After heading in and looking over the menu we decided to try a 1/2 shaved ice, a1/2 waffle, and a strawberry Italian soda. The staff were very friendly and patient with us as my girls were excited and wanted to watch them make the treats! The portions were generous for the price and there was plenty of for us to share. The shaved ice and fruit was very refreshing and delicious. Fruit was very fresh. The waffle are charcoal Belgian waffles, I was not sure if the girls would like them but after we added Oreo crumbs, chocolate covered marshmallows, and chocolate drizzle they were ready to dig in! We loved this combination, especially the chocolate covered marshmallows. The Italian soda were creamy and just the right amount of sweetness! We really enjoyed our visit and the small details like the melted ice light covers hanging from the ceiling. My girls are already talking about what they want to...
