Update: Initially received message from Pinecrest Bakery Miller to email and settle a refund, and then the message was changed to saying that they investigated the complaint and without speaking to us it was determined that a box was actually offered, and they did confirm that it was not the right size because it was "custom". I didn't know a 14 inch cake is so "custom". WHEN YOU GO TO LUCILLAS and buy a 14 inch cake you get a 14 inch box. You ask for a 12 inch cake and guess what? You get a 12 inch box. I went to party City and simply said "Hi can I have a 14 inch cake box". And they had a TON of em. Didnt have to custom order them. Furthermore they retracted the offer for a refund based on that the cake box that was offered that wasn't the right size, but at least it was offered... but I guess all the holes, folding, and discolorations on the fondant (see pics) didn't outweigh the box issue. Please buy your fondant cakes at a more reputable place in, case it rains and they don't have your "custom" size box. The croquetas are great though 5 stars on those.
Summary Points:
*As per employee, the cakes are outsourced to another vendor. Pinecrest bakery does not make their cakes. -I paid $125 to be handed a cake without a box and then told that it's not her problem that I didn't get a box! -The attendant said she doesn't have to hear the complaint because this is not her problem, it's the problem of whoever makes the cakes and buys the boxes to supply. She told me that verbatim, "NOT MY PROBLEM" -The cake has red and blue stains, holes, and the fondant is bubbling all the way around (see pics). Furthermore they added an ugly border trim because they do not know how to flush the ends. I didn't ask for a border, I asked for a flushed edge.
Review: The buying process was simple. I requested to have a cake made one week ago. No problem there. On the day of pickup (today July 05, which is my birthday) I go to pick up the cake and was handed the cake without a box. When I asked for the box the lady said she didn't have one. I asked how it is possible to take a fondant cake out of the store and transport it WITHOUT A BOX. What if it were raining? It's Miami. Besides, where do you go buy a cake and get it handed to you wide open to air. She remarked very sharply that this isn't her fault and it is the fault of the person who makes the cakes and buys the supplies, and then offered a box that is almost one and a half times bigger than the cake. A proper fitting box protects the base and allows you to hold it without the cake slipping around the box, especially when there are decorations that will be put on it. I let her know that I understand it's not her fault personally, obviously, but as a worker she still needs to understand the problems that happen in the business to tell management. She did not agree with even hearing the complaint. Then upon inspection of the cake, I pointed out that the fondant was bubbling, uneven, and stained in several spots. The lady again became defensive and said it's not her fault because they don't even make the cakes here, that it's another company that makes the cakes and delivers it to them. Then she had to add again that she doesn't need to hear this complaint because it's not her fault. Now I have to spend portion of my birthday buying a box, A BOX, that should come with it, and I have to improvise how to cover these imperfections....
Read moreI live in NY and wanted to have a Thanksgiving Neal catered to the Assisted Living Facility my mother resides in, which is located in Miami. During a recent visit to Pincrest Bakery locates on Bird Road and 113 Ave I saw a sign for Holiday meals prepared. I thought it would be great to have it catered to the Assisted Living Facility my mother is in. I contacted Pincrest Bakery in Bird Road and Kendall to make order and arrange for delivery. The managers I spoke to at both locations told me they could not do delivery because Thanksgiving Day is very busy for them. The Bird Road location was within 4 miles radius and Kendall location was within 19 miles radius, which I understood why Kendall could not do delivery.
I made one more attempt and contacted Pincrest Bakery in Miller. To my blessing I came across the manager Ileana. Whom explained that on Thanksgiving Day they are too busy for delivery but due to my circumstances leaving in NY and the purpose she was going to make an exception. She took my order assured me everything was going to come out really good. I was going to be pleasantly surprise with the reviews I will receive at the Assisted Living Facility with respect to the food and presentation. She was very polite, professional, caring and human. Thank you Ileana for your help. Will follow up on Thanksgiving with the food review.
If all is good as assured Pinecrest Bakery Miller will now be my go to bakery for all future request.
I am following up to my previous post regarding the catered Thanksgiving.
Thank you Ileana for the on time delivery service. The service was as promised.
I must say everyone was pleased with the order. The guest stated that the turkey was a bit dry but had good flavor as well as the yuca. The guest stated that the morro was very good, the salad was very fresh, the cheesecake flan was also very good as well.
I plan on continuing to order from Pinecrest Bakery Miller with Ileana. Sine I was not present I can only say it was a matter of opinion if it was dry or not. But apparently everyone ate it all, so it must have been very good.
Thank you...
Read moreI’m glad to see others not so great reviews as I don’t like to rant about a business but seriously…. What is this? From the moment we entered we didn’t feel this was a regular Pinecrest bakery. I know they are franchises but they at least should keep the same level of service and food. Let’s talk about service. We ordered a “torrija” which we prefer to eat warm so we proceed to respectfully ask if they can warm it up a bit. The lady behind the counter freaked out and started an argument about why we needed the torrija to be warm as she has never heard of such thing. She then proceeded to gradually raise her voice and to repeatedly explain several times that torrijas should be eaten cold and not warm. My friend was standing in front of her nodding and smiling in disbelief because she had nothing to say. The girl behind the counter was so loud I had to get up and ask my friend in perfect Spanish “is she teaching you how to eat a torrija?” So the attendant finally ask someone to warm the torrija for us. Jesus Christ what an embarrassing experience, people were just standing there waiting for the debate to end so they could order. In any other part of the world if you are a customer and you want to eat something hot you request it and that’s it. Nobody comes teaching you how you should eat anything. But well I guess you can never explain Miami to a person, you have to experience it. The decor is overwhelmingly distasteful filled with plastic plants, plastic centerpieces, chandeliers, all covered in dust and some are even broken. Bathrooms are inaccessible after certain time so I couldn’t wash my hands before or after eating. Disgusting. This franchise is the worse Pinecrest Bakery I’ve ever been to in this city and I will continue to go to the one on US1 which is consistently great for late night snacks and...
