9/23 (2nd review) Pop's Sunset Grill is our go-to spot for brunch or drinks, and it never disappoints. What makes it even more special is that we arrived by boat, which added an extra layer of charm to our experience. There's something uniquely enjoyable about docking and dining with a waterfront view.
With two different kitchens and chefs, it's clear that there's room for cross-learning. The breakfast/brunch chef's skills are top-notch, and the dinner chef could learn a thing or two from them.
Speaking of breakfast, Pop's "Sunrise" Grill menu is ridiculously good, and the specials are simply out of this world. During our recent visit, I tried the Maple Cinnamon Waffle with Candied Bacon, and it was delicious. However, my dining companion opted for the Southwest Chicken Chimichanga, and it was absolutely outstanding – so much so that it made me regret my choice!
While the food is fantastic, it's worth mentioning that the hostess provided awesome service. On the flip side, our waiter was a bit lacking in the personality department.
Overall, what keeps us coming back to Pop's are the fantastic atmosphere, great drinks, and breathtaking views. And when it comes to breakfast, it's always a hit. Pop's Sunset Grill is a must-visit for any brunch enthusiast, and arriving by boat only enhances the whole experience!
9/9 (1st review) Pop's Sunset Grill in Nokomis, Florida offers a fantastic breakfast and brunch experience with an array of over-the-top specials, particularly on weekends and especially on holidays. The breakfast menu is truly a highlight, featuring a diverse range of delicious options to kickstart your day. 5 stars for the morning menu!
The atmosphere at Pop's is undeniably fun, creating a welcoming environment for diners. Plus, the drinks here are top-notch, adding to the overall enjoyment of your visit. Pop's Sunset Grill is not just about its exceptional menu; it also offers stunning views and unforgettable sunsets. The restaurant's prime location, accessible by boat, adds a unique and delightful dimension to your dining experience. Whether you arrive by land or water, you're in for a treat as you soak in the breathtaking views and enjoy the beautiful sunsets that make this place truly special. The service is very good as well. It's the perfect spot to savor a meal while taking in the natural beauty of Nokomis, Florida.
However, it's worth noting that the dinner experience at Pop's Sunset Grill may not match the same level of excellence found during breakfast and brunch. This is the reason I took one star off. While the atmosphere remains lively, and service is great, the dinner menu might leave something to be desired for some diners. Nevertheless, if you're looking for a great spot to start your day or enjoy a lively evening with good drinks, Pop's Sunset Grill is definitely...
Read moreNever expected this from Pop’s. This afternoon we, a party of 9, called to advise we’d be in at 4PM after a memorial service . Understandably we had a wait as they don’t take reservations, it’s spring break and season. I’m local and come in regularly usually in a much smaller party and on a better day and time. After over a half hour watching the same size and larger parties bring seated we asked what was happening. We were told they were cleaning the tables or waiting for folks to leave. We asked several times and finally they discovered that they had two parties listed with the same first name and thought we had not checked in and the other person with the same name had been seated. They admitted this to several family members. Another local regular (not with us) knew of the wait and contacted the manager Karen. Karen came over and stated that they were just busy and there wasn’t an issue or a mix up. We understand it’s season and busy but her employees already admitted the name mixup so when she adamantly claimed there wasn’t a mixup she was insinuating we were impatient. Karen was not being honest and accountable. We understood we all make mistakes. It was the failure of the manager to admit a mistake that was discouraging. We were finally taken to a table with 12 chairs so we had to remove a few to be able to sit comfortably. Our waiter, Zachary, was very amicable, knowledgeable and fun. Only problem was when the food came one of the orders was wrong and one meal was missing. After a few minutes one order was delivered. After everyone completely had finished their meal- the last meal wasn’t yet delivered to the table so I asked the waiter to cancel that order. Zachary apologized and said he would take it off the bill and pack it to go if I wanted. The fries with that last meal were hot unlike one of the other meals previously delivered (no one came during the meal to check on anything) but the fish I had waited for all that time was ice cold- I asked Zachary to feel it too as we couldn’t believe that after waiting all that time the food would be cold. The waiter did apologize and was extremely busy. We took home the last meal so we could heat it up as everyone was done eating even though reheated isn’t as delicious as when first cooked but it was comped. One good thing out of this is that my receipt says “You’ve unlocked $50.10 off on your next order!”. Not sure how that came about but with that credit will come back to try again as after many superior meals and visits there over the years I’ll be back. Normally I would have discussed these issues with a manager without posting on social media but skipped that step as the manager there was deceptive and unapologetic when we brought up the...

Special thanks to Taylor, my server at Pop's Sunset Grill in Nokomis, Florida. I recently had the pleasure of dining at this delightful waterfront restaurant, and I must say, their Teriyaki Salmon left a lasting impression on my taste buds.
From the moment I arrived, Taylor's warm and attentive service set the stage for a wonderful dining experience. He greeted me with a genuine smile and promptly guided me to a table with a fantastic view of the serene sunset over the Gulf of Mexico. His knowledge of the menu and genuine enthusiasm for the food made me feel confident in my choice of the Teriyaki Salmon.
When the dish arrived, I was immediately captivated by its beautiful presentation. The grilled salmon fillet, glazed with a luscious teriyaki sauce, was accompanied by a colorful medley of stir-fried vegetables and a bed of fluffy jasmine rice. The aroma alone was enough to make my mouth water in anticipation.
As I took my first bite, I was greeted with a burst of flavors that danced harmoniously on my palate. The salmon was cooked to perfection, with a slightly crispy exterior that gave way to tender and moist flesh. The teriyaki glaze was the star of the show, striking a perfect balance between sweetness and savory notes. It coated the fish beautifully, infusing each bite with its rich and indulgent taste.
The accompanying stir-fried vegetables were a delightful addition, providing a refreshing crunch and a burst of freshness to complement the rich flavors of the salmon. The medley included a vibrant mix of bell peppers, snap peas, carrots, and broccoli, all cooked to a perfect crisp-tender texture. Paired with the fragrant jasmine rice, it created a well-rounded and satisfying meal.
The portion size was generous, ensuring that I left the restaurant feeling thoroughly satisfied. The quality of the ingredients was evident, and the care taken in the preparation was truly commendable. It was clear that Pop's Sunset Grill prides itself on serving dishes of the highest caliber.
In conclusion, I cannot recommend the Teriyaki Salmon at Pop's Sunset Grill enough. From the impeccable service to the exquisite flavors, every aspect of my dining experience was truly exceptional.
