Poppo's Taqueria — Restaurant in Florida

Ultimately, I have always been a big fan of Poppos and while this location was managed by Miguel it was AMAZING. Everyone was happy and your order was always checked for accuracy and packaged with care. In the last year, Miguel has been moved to a different location and sadly, the company culture and consistency has died off. In hopes that things would change, I have stayed silent and supportive. Unfortunately, as a neighbor of this company I am officially disappointed and frustrated. This time, I ordered two tacos which came with what I ordered. But for some reason were packaged by rolling them (together, not separately) in foil. Ultimately my son had taco soup. Lol I thought, no big deal right? So then I opened my order. A baby bowl with EVERYTHING OPTIONAL on it & cornitas as the Protein. Yep..... no. Cornitas, rice and onion for dinner it is!

I called and expressed not only my patience but also my frustration at this point. Ultimately, the manager (Ashley) was very willing to refund me however; she left me with this statement “when ordering tacos you should specify how you want the packaged?” Really? I was pretty caught off guard by this. I am sure there is a standard. In fact, based on my last few years under different management I know there is a standard. Taco soup is not it. Lol

Food is good at best but the service and cleanliness leaves a lot to be desired. The two girls (one with the two poney tails and thin eyebrows and the othe with the chubby face ) are always on their phones whenever i go to this location and they always seem annoyed to be there. Usuallyrun to the back wheneverthey get more then 2 customersand always get one of the two hispanic girls to come up instead, the line is always covered with debris and they drag the food through it. By the time i pay for it the burrito or my bowl are covered in sour cream and cheese. Not to mention the gentleman with the beard never wears a beard net. Usually the manatee ave location is better. Besides the one chick with the pink hair who always loosk miserable and always has an attitude. The only 2 that seem to do the job well and enjoy it are the GM and one of the managers i think her name is Emily. Been to all the locations in Bradenton/Anna Maria and the Manatee one is the best. I swear I've had a drunk worker serve me once or twice at the Anna Maria location. The kid looked like he was 17 stumbling on the line until someone sent him to the back. Overall save your time and money and just go to chipotle...

Poppo's food is normally delicious and I love it, but unfortunately I totally agree with Mariana, the other customer who commented on how dirty this location is. We live right near this location and so we visit here often but normally take our food with us. This last time we were particularly hungry so we decided to eat inside.

Although the place was almost empty, the tables and floors were all covered in food. We had to clean off our table and chairs to sit down which wasn't too big of a deal, but what disgusted me the most were the bathrooms!! I went in to clean up before eating, and not only was there toiled paper and water all over the floor, as well as other disgusting things I won't mention, but they were out of soap in both restrooms which completely grossed me out because it made me wonder how these employees are keeping themselves clean while handling food. I couldn't help but feel like they weren't very sanitary (because if they washed their hands they would've noticed the soap was out and changed it to a new one - for themselves and their customers, right?)
