We have been going to this restaurant for as long as it has been open. We loved the service, liked the food. 3 years ago we gave it a 5 star review but it no longer is a 5 star experience. About a month ago we had lunch at Tokyo. We ordered 3 meals, all but 1 was fine. We did not complain we just didn’t eat it. Everyone at the table tasted it before deciding not to take it home. It was tasteless and overcooked. The server who is often rude, asked if something was wrong when I said we didn’t want to take it home them he removed it from the bill, all unprovoked. I added an additional $10 to the top as I wasn’t looking for a free meal and honestly, these things happen and the server was polite this visit. Today we went again for lunch. The server from the last visit waited on us again. He was rude to us throughout the entire experience. We don’t normally order sushi so I said we wanted one of the lunch specials but only tuna. He brought out a meal entirely made up of other fish with one piece of tuna sushi. I specifically ordered the lunch special with the spicy tuna but we did not get any version of this. Since we didn’t order this and could eat none of it I explained that this wasn’t what we ordered. He argued for no less than at least 10 minutes. Everyone in earshot was appalled by his behavior. I told him to do what he thought was right. He started to argue more… Now let’s address the quality of the food. The roll that we got in place of the spicy tuna roll may have been cat food. It was some kind of mushy salmon, we think. No one at the table could identify the fish. My daughter actually got sick after eating it. If you read any of my many many reviews you will see I do them with grace and am always excited to share a good experience. This was a terrible experience. This server acted like a bully and we had to pay for the unpleasant experience. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY HERE.

I have thought about coming here probably hundreds of times over the past years... and never have. Now I regret that... what I had today was far superior to any of the local takeouts. Staff was friendly and attentive, and made me feel welcome. They apparently do a pretty good takeout business as there were a lot of people picking up takeout orders. I ordered off the Chinese menus... and ordered Hot and Sour soup, and Crispy Sesame Beef. The waitress asked what spice level I wanted and I told her HOT. The soup arrived and was very pretty... loaded with tofu, wood ear mushroom and lily. It was a little bland... not sour enough. Needed more Black Vinegar, IMO. But it was good... and thick too. When they brought out the Crispy Sesame Beef, I was impressed... large portion, lovely plating, and beautifully cooked. And it tasted as good as it looked. Nice combination of sweet and savory... and had a little bit of heat to it also. The Rice was perfect to... easy to eat with chopsticks, and delicious! I checked out the sushi bar after eating... and it looked really good and fresh too. The unagi was making me hungry again!! I will need to come back and try other dishes.

I recently ordered lunch for my coworkers from this restaurant, and it was one of the worst dining experiences I’ve ever had. Not only are their prices outrageously high, but the quality of the food is absolutely horrendous. The fried rice was burnt and dried out, making it completely inedible. The dumplings were soggy, drenched in an excessive amount of soy sauce, and looked revolting. The shrimp and steak combo was the most appalling dish I’ve ever seen, with tiny, gross-looking shrimp and raw, slimy steak covered in a disgusting brown sauce. The lo mein noodles were overcooked, greasy, and clumped together, making the entire dish look and taste repulsive. To top it all off, the customer service was incredibly rude and unhelpful. When I expressed my dissatisfaction, they were dismissive and unapologetic. This restaurant not only overcharges for their terrible food but also treats their customers with a complete lack of respect. I will never be ordering here again and strongly advise others to avoid this place at all costs.

Subject: Terrible Experience - Unacceptable Customer Service

I am writing this review with sheer disappointment and frustration after the appalling treatment I received from your restaurant during a recent attempt to place a simple order over the phone. I cannot believe the level of incompetence and disrespect I encountered.

I have been a loyal customer for quite some time, but the incident that occurred during my last attempt to place an order was beyond infuriating. I was asked to provide my phone number for the fourth time in the same conversation! What kind of circus are you running over there?

I understand the importance of verifying information, but repeating my phone number four times is utterly ridiculous and unnecessary. I felt like I was being interrogated by the FBI, not placing a simple food order. Is this how you treat your customers? By making them jump through hoops just to give you their business?

The person on the other end of the line seemed completely oblivious to the fact that I was a paying customer, not a criminal suspect. I provided my information multiple times, and each time it was met with the same request to repeat it again. How can you run a business with such a blatant disregard for customer satisfaction?

This experience has left me questioning whether I should continue supporting your establishment. There are plenty of other restaurants in the area that would be more than happy to take my order without subjecting me to such a ridiculous and frustrating process.

Your customer service needs a serious overhaul, and I strongly suggest addressing this issue before you lose more patrons like myself. I expected better from a place I once considered a reliable choice for a meal. I hope you take this feedback seriously and make the necessary improvements to prevent other customers from enduring such a dreadful experience.

Sincerely, An...

Co-worker and I would order there and have lunch delivered every week. The food was normally very good. The last two weeks or so the food did not seem fresh. Last Thurs 3/4/2015 the food did not taste fresh at all. The sesame chicken was so hard it had to be thrown away.. Today when we called 3/13/2015 it was mention to the person that answered the phone that to please make the food fresh as the last couple of times it was not..Well that's when all hell broke loose; instead of listening to what the customer was trying to say. Whoever answered the phone (sure it was the owner or part owner) as I can't believe a worker would be this rude went off and how far we were from them which I stopped him and advised him I didn't say the food was not hot I said it wasn't fresh (maybe he didn't understand English too well), I continue with the order and one of the orders they wanted "extra spicy" I told him extra spicy and then he says I should have mention that at the beginning of the order as he had notated "extra spicy" on the can of Pepsi..ok..moving on he then gave me the price for each lunch I asked him for the total (as that's what the pleasant guy that spoke English always did) he then states $7 for each lunch and total $21 for the 3 lunch special. Then very rudely he states to please give the guy a tip as that's all he works for. I very angrily told him we always gave a tip I have the exact change for the lunch and then hand the guy the difference for the tip. He says no it's notated. I say yes we do tip all the time. I disconnected the call and of course lunch never showed up which I was glad as I would be afraid to eat it now anyway. We ordered from another restaurant where we will be ordering from all the time. I understand 3-4 lunch specials are not a lot of money but what he doesn't realize a message will be going out to the company I work for not to ever order...
