A sad tail of the only Mexican Food in the area going down the toilet. Rio Bravo was once the best Mexican joint in the area, I never ordered anything that I didn't like. My favorite being the Al Pastor Taco's with a large side of Picante Salsa. You used to get 4 Al Pastor Taco's that tasted like they will were from the heavens. Being from California it was hard to find a good place, or one for that matter that even had Al Pastor tacos. Now you get 3 Tacos with a side of Hotdog water they call soup (no bs it has hotdogs in it), and a side of what is a poor attempt of Spanish rice. The new owners have ruined this place, and its sad to see. We work down the road from the place and a buddy and I would get Rio Bravo every other day, two orders of Al Pastor tacos and salsa picante, all for around $30 bucks. Now not only are they cutting corners trying to make it cheaper on their side but the price has nearly doubled...and I'm not exaggerating. Just recently they changed the tortilla that they use for the street taco, and its not correct at all. The meat is still good at this point, but when is that going to change? The large salsa picante used to be a huge drink size portion of salsa if you ordered it. Now its 5 oz and you're paying 5 dollars for that. We've cut our spending at Rio Bravo to next to nothing, I keep going back hoping it will change for the better but it isn't happening. I didn't want to write this but hopefully someone at the store will read this. Please go back to the way Rio Bravo used to be. You want to raise the prices...fine. But don't cut the food quality. Dear old owners or management or what ever....come back or open another Mexican restaurant. Everyone misses the old Rio Bravo. I don't want to see this place close, but at the rate the food quality is going down it's not...

We have ordered take out from this restaurant a handful of times over the past year. They mess up part of our order every time. The last time we ordered from them a couple of days ago they left out most of our order. We ordered 7 items from this restaurant and only received 2 items (a quesadilla and tacos). We called the restaurant and I asked the guy if he could call out to me what they left out just to make sure we get everything. He kept saying ‘fajitas’ even though we didn’t order that. He explained they left out one of the bags when it was picked up (which is okay, I get it that mistakes happen). We live about 20 minutes away from the restaurant and I didn’t want to get the same bag of food they had previously made and it be cold when it got back home, so I asked politely if there was any way it can be made fresh so we can enjoy the food. The guy on the phone sighed really loud and just said ‘okay’ in an annoyed tone, and was very rude the entire time even though I was polite about the whole situation. He never once said sorry or acted like he cared at all for THEIR mistake. I understand that mistakes happen (that’s not the problem), the problem to me is how he handled the situation...

Unfortunately, service today was not that great. Main reason it's getting 3 stars and not less is because the first time I went was better. But today took a while to even have my order taken by a guy who wasn't my waiter evidently. When the food did come, the order wasn't correct. (got beef instead of chicken). A lady brought out my food. I think she was my waitress, but considering she never identified herself or bothered to see if my food was alright after, I'm not really sure. She did bring out a replacement drink after bout 5 minutes of it being empty. So a few positive points I guess. But it's really hard to tip someone if you aren't even sure who you are tipping. I thought she was just the food runner or something.

Another minor annoyance was the fact they brought my chimichanga, and taco out on two plates like Mexican places often do. But usually it's the taco on the separate plate so the shell doesn't get beans and all over it. But they plated it backwards. So I had to slide the chimichanga over with the rice and beans that a lot of people like to mix with their burritos and such. Again, minor issue there, but with everything else going on, I was not happy with...

Sept 2024. Back for more. Glad we were passing through again! Always delicious! This was our first time dining at Rio Bravo Mexican Grill. We enjoy good Mexican food. This was good. The normal chips and salsa came when we were seated. And the extra: delicious black bean dip. It was warm and soothing. Not spiced at all, black beans you can actually  taste. The salsa had enough spice to mix with the bean dip if you so choose. We enjoyed entrees from the lunch menu: steak fajitas, Sopes Azteca. Seemed to be several locals here too...which it's always nice to see locals supporting their restaurants. Sopes Azteca was so good. The cheese and avocado and beans: nothing over spiced. Each ingredient was distinguishable. The lunch fajitas. Wow. That's a lot to eat. Taste each ingredient. Add as much heat at the table. Wish more restaurants cooked like this. And to carry out: a cup of tortilla soup and Mexican water (guava). Delicious. We'll be back. And the serving portions... come hungry or expect a carry out. Back again. The steak burrito was excellent! Large serving too. Yum. Locals have a great restaurant here.

Don’t let the strip mall facade fool you. It is a large full size restaurant. The have a separate bar and dining area. There are some side walk seats for a quick lunch outside. They make the fresh guacamole if you ask for it as a separate $10+ on the starter portion of the menu. It is made fresh when you order. If however the order comes with guacamole it is the standard that you can get at any supermarket and it is very salty. The taco salad was good as was the enchiladas. The sides for the enchiladas were beans and rice. The beans were good but the rice was flavorless. The staff seemed friendly enough but our waiter was more interested in something on his phone than paying attention to his customers. We watched him and waited for ten minutes before he looked up from his phone in our direction. He never came to check on us. Never asked or checked for refills.

For some reason this was the only place open in the area when I was looking for dinner. It was packed with people so I thought I would give it a try. I ordered the torta with pork and the tamale dinner with rice and beans. The torta came with fries, but I still had many questions about the dish. What was the meat that was put in? It tasted like a fatty piece of meat that had severe freezer burn. Why was there American cheese on this? The avocado has all sorts of black spots on it. It looked like it was going bad. The tamales themselves were ok, but they were covered in some red sauce that tasted like the only ingredient in it was salt. TL:DR skip it and go to WhataBurger
