If yall were familiar with Horizon before they closed, the all you can eat menu and food were amazing! My fiance and I were so excited that the "old Horizon" in Tiger Point would be re-opened (just under new management and a new name), so we decided to eat dinner at New Ginger for our little Friday night date. New Ginger's venue was a little outdated, but it wasn't anything unbearable. The staff was decent. The host seemed a little awkward at first, but she quickly sat us. Becky, our waitress, was great! Though it seemed that she was possibly the only waitress working the floor, she was still very attentive and stopped by our table often to check up on us. The food though... the food was utterly disappointing. I know all you can eat is usually hit or miss, but Horizon was light-years better than New Ginger. Not even comparing to Horizon, just in general, the food at New Ginger tasted old and stale. The entrees were heavily saturated in artificial-colored sauces, the fish used in the sushi tasted/felt grimey like it was frozen for months and then seconds just before serving, pulled from the frost-bitten freezer. It was not enjoyable... Though there are more than 60 items to choose from on their all you can eat menu, I resorted to filling up on the fried shumai (which I know is not made in house because I buy this brand of shumai from Joe Patti's). The food was definitely not worth the $32 for all you can eat, being that there are other place in town that offer food on par or better at a cheaper price. Unfortunately with that being said, I cant imagine us returning to New Ginger. Do...
Read moreAll I can say is if you are a person of color donât go here. Let me start by saying that my best friend and her family goes here often and they are a normal average American looking family if you catch my drift. After the Mardi Gras parade, this weekend, she wanted to take us there so we can experience the food. As soon as we walked in, she took a look at our group which consisted of one white woman, two women of color and six children. As soon as she saw us, she yelled at us to go Sit in the back corner. Once we walked back there, she literally threw a stack of silverware and menus at us and said sheâd be back. She returns with Water and never asked us what we wanted to drink or anything. She was so incredibly rude and we were so uncomfortable but didnât want to cause a scene in front of the children. We asked for a different server. She screamed at the children and told them to shut up and sit down when we had just gotten there And I can understand if they were unruly, but they were not. Once the new waiter came And cleaned up the table for us We were finally able To order our meal. This is where we discovered that the woman is the wife of the owner We were so very uncomfortable and could not believe how poorly we were being treated. People were staring at us, looking at us and whispering the Whole time. My friend was so utterly embarrassed at the way we were treated and has vowed to never return. As a small business owner, inclusivity is key. Especially in todayâs environment. Do...
Read moreThis was so bad that it was comical like watching a bad movie and laughing at it because the acting was so bad and that's what New Ginger is. We got chicken mei fun that advertised rice noodle and they served angel pasta so thick it might as well have been spaghetti. It couldn't pass as rice noodle to the blindest of men. There was so little chicken in it and what was chicken we couldnt even identify as such. Ironically, there was a couple pieces of chicken in my vegan noodle curry and I was going to let it slide because I was in a good mood but the curry was so watery, I could have taken a bath in it. I ordered it thai spicy and it was not spicy at all, it probably won't even come out hot the other end. It didn't soak into the noodles right at all (which were linguini pasta noodles.) We got two orders of spring rolls and none of them were cooked so they were so soft that they should be presribed viagara. The sushi was good but heads up, I ordered a vegan sushi that didn't have fish.
New Ginger was so bad that it is practically starring Ben Affleck acting in the role of Asian Cuisine. New Ginger is the Ben Affleck of restaurants around this area. My mom said she would have rather had a turkey sandwich than New Ginger.
They have to be turning a 90% profit with how much the charge and how sub par the product is.
I heard they are paying for many of their good reviews.
There is no way they will stay in business much longer. Thank God. Bring Moes back....
