Service: With this being a one star review, I want to first say that the service from the hostess and server were great and gets 5 stars. They were friendly and patient as we were deciding on what to eat, and were very timely on checking to make sure if we needed refills and whatnot. Also great with our kids.
Food: Why this restaurant gets a one star review. As a family of 4, 2 have come down with food poisoning. My wife has thrown up multiple times and my son had diarrhea right after we ate. I saw the pricing of the “Hibachi” dinner menu and decided to eat cheaper and safer options. One of my kids got the chicken hibachi, but when she tasted the sauce she (thankfully) turned her nose up to the chicken. My wife and son tried a piece of chicken each and said it tasted awful. They both ordered sushi and continued to eat their dishes. My dish was OK, but nothing that was exceptional or would make me return to this restaurant. Within a half hour of finishing our meal and going to the Navarre Walmart, we stopped at the restroom six times for my son. He had diarrhea and was cramping up, so we left the store and headed home. Upon returning home, my wife has thrown up four times (so far). I and my daughter are fine, but both my son and wife are seriously ill after eating either the chicken or sushi. Some of the worst food we’ve had, especially for the price. Would have rather paid ~$30 at Taco Bell down the street.
Atmosphere: Not sure what is going on at this location, but they had price tags on everything hanging on the walls. Maybe going out of business soon? There are no hibachi shows/grills to sit around which was a bit disappointing, but not a deal breaker. During dinner I shifted forward and our booth seat came apart, which was nothing serious but fairly annoying. The TV at the bar was malfunctioning and displaying pixels, and the theme of the restaurant felt all over the place.
With all this being said, I genuinely hope this restaurant can turn itself around and improve. I don’t like seeing a business fail and people losing their jobs, but I will not return here until there are some serious changes.
If TLDR: Just do yourself and anyone you’re dining with a favor, and go across the street to the...
Read moreWe used to come here often, do not know what has changed and why.
Over the past few months, my family has tried to dine here 4 different occasions for lunch hibachi and we were given different excuses each time as to why we could not order hibachi for lunch.
First time we walked in around 2:45pm on a weekday and we were told that lunch ended at 2pm, despite calling on the phone the same day before we left and verified it was until 3pm.
Second time we went to the restaurant at 1:50pm and was told that we could not order the lunch hibachi as all of their chefs were on lunch, when asked what time they come back we were told it was not until dinner hours. How are customers supposed to get fresh food if they are not cooking, but the restaurant is open?
The third time we called again and was told it was until 3pm and they pulled the same crap as the first time despite us getting there sooner.
This past time, we called and asked if they offered lunch hibachi on Saturdays and was told once again it was until 3pm. Promptly, we left our house and arrived there by 1:15pm. Upon arrival, we stated we would like the lunch hibachi and sat at the grill, but were handed dinner hibachi menus. When we asked why we received dinner hibachi menus, they stated that due to the hibachi including noodles, they could not do it for lunch. When we stated, "What does noodles have to do with hibachi?", we were told that they don't do lunch hibachi at the grills, despite there being an online menu stating otherwise. Hibachi means it is cooked on an open-top grill, lunch hibachi should mean you receive lunch portions cooked in front of you on the grill. If you go to any other hibachi restaurant that offers lunch prices, it is the same.
I refuse to eat here as we have been lied to and disrespected multiple times due to them not honoring their menus inputted online. I refuse to sit down and eat at a booth as it does not provide the true experience of hibachi cooking, especially for these prices. The restaurant needs to really explain standards to their staff as we were told different times and excuses as to why they will not honor their lunch...
Read moreI am writing about my experience on February 23. My friend and I came in to eat at the sushi bar. It was fairly busy, yet orderly. We were hoping to order this one food item in particular, that during a previous experience was suggested by the waitress. In describing this food to our waitress, we could not remember the name or the description very well, as it was not on the menu. I expressed gratitude for her enduring the confusion of trying to help figure out an entrée to which we lacked a sufficient description of. She asked around about the item in question and I believe either the manager or the store owner over heard her inquiry. The manager/store owner approached my friend and I personally. She helped us to pick a good alternative to that item which no one could figure out. She suggested the sushi avocado mango salad. It was a great pick as it was very affordable and enough to feed two people. My friend and I were having a good time there so we ordered more food! I was honestly embarrassed about being so complicated in the beginning, but the manager / boss tended to my friend and I with such hospitality, attentiveness, and care, that I knew she truly appreciated our business. She followed up with us multiple times and included complimentary Miso soup and a sushi roll in our visit. I was very impressed with the store owner / boss. She has a true gift for both the heart and the art of serving others. She is the reason I am writing this review. She made me feel like I was a guest in her home and treated me like a family member or something. I don't know her name but I'd just like to thank her again!! I will always come back to Samurai and recommend it eating here to anyone...
