San Jose Mexican Grill — Restaurant in Florida

Where do I start…? This should be zero stars! Being from Texas, we have loved Mexican for decades. This was AWFUL! We ordered food to go and here’s what we ended up with: After my wife took her very first bite of the beef fajita meat, she mentioned it tasted a little like liver. I on the other hand had already made a fajita taco from the plate and took a bite. I almost threw up. We believe the meat had turned. They served bad meat. The refried beans were the runny kind (this varies from restaurant to restaurant), but these were almost creamy. In fact, they were grey in color and had no flavor. The kids cheese burger didn’t taste right either. The meat was not spoiled like the fajita meat was, but it just had a really odd flavor. As we were standing in our kitchen discussing the meal, my wife pointed to the inside of the Togo container at a long black hair. The tortilla chips tasted like really old fry oil The salsa was mediocre. It tasted like it was made by an Italian. Certainly not like a salsa you would expect from a Mexican restaurant.

So, we threw everything away and are praying we don’t get sick from the few bites of spoiled meat we had eaten.

I spent over 15 years in the hotel and hospitality business as a food and beverage director. If this restaurant had been one of mine, I would have closed it down for a week while everyone got retrained in food handling and serve safe certified.

We stopped in for a quick lunch last Sunday that ended up actually being one of the longest lunches ever. No kidding.

This is a seat yourself place (or at least during our visit). We had 5 of us so the only table that we could all sit at together was in the very back near the restrooms. We waited about 15 minutes before our server appeared. We ordered waters and looked over the menu. When our waters arrived we ordered our food and I ordered a margarita. My margarita arrived quickly (we were also right next to the bar).

My husband and I ordered the fajitas for 2 and we were very happy. The shrimp was HUGE and normal sized beef and chicken. I did not receive a plate (we only got one plate) and did not see the server again until we were ready for our check. I made do with no plate using napkins. My daughter and her friend each ordered nachos (one beef and one chicken) and our son had chicken nuggets. The queso was also very good.

When our server finally did appear we asked for our check (this was 40 minutes after we got our food). He said oh you don't want your other margarita, they are 2 for 1? Well I would have loved one but I never saw him again so I declined (we were so ready to go). He brought our check 10 minutes later but didn't return for another 10 minutes to pick it up. The check process overall was about 25 minutes. I don't care how good your food is...I'll never return. He did not appear to care that we were frustrated with the...

My wife and I Michael and Linda LeCuyer have been strong patrons of your restaurant. We would eat there sometime 2x a week. You can look up our credit card transactions and see. We would have dinner and the brag on your restaurant and recommend it to many others. I work at a Golf Course in town and people always ask me where to eat I always included you in my recommendations.

Over the past two months we have been out of town, but we have eaten at your restaurant a few times. The reason for our slow down is the quality of food. Slowly, your food has gotten progressively worse. Tonight was a disaster and has forced us to stop visiting and recommending your restaurant.

I ordered “create you own” …two enchiladas with rice and beans. My wife ordered “Quesabirria”. My plate came out lightly warm … no where near hot. My wife’s plate was cold “literally cold”. The manager touched it and said it was warm, not hot and my mind again lightly warm. The manager took them back and decided to reduce. However, my wife’s came back Nuked and mine still warm not hot.

What a disaster? Rebuke my wife’s plate and bring mine back warm again??????
