It started raining…in the afternoon in florida… Surprise surprise… so my moms and I came under the sheltered tables of the sandbar once they sounded the lightning alarm. So did everybody else. Once it died down and people who were not staying left servers n orange were coming around taking orders and addressing tables. No one came to ours. We still had GARBAGE and plates of the people sitting at the table before us. And the previous people’s check… twenty or so minutes passed before a nice man came over and cleaned the table and asked us if we could take anything out of the way…we said yes please none of this is ours…and indicated towards the CHECK. He took the plates and said he’d grab a server. No one came. I tried to stop another server and asked if she could take this (the check) and our order? And she said she would grab a server…what are you doing if not serving ma’am? Anyways she did ju come back and handed it to another server in passing (Hazel) and i made sure to yell over everyone screaming under the shelter that thay wasn’t ours and we’d like to order…she said that she knew and understood and then proceeded to tend to the table next to us for another twenty minutes. I finally ordered drinks at the bar and brought them back to our table. Expecting some one to come now that the check was gone, I found I was wrong, another ten or so minutes passed with not a single person coming to our table so my mom asked a female bartender if she could order food at the bar and was shooed away and said she’d find a server to come over. No one did. Once they opened the pool again and people cleared out I approached the bar and ordered food with Gary, who was super nice and helpful. This was not a fun experience which is ANNOYING for a resort to have these issues. They were understaffed as there were workers in orange shirts hanging around the side of the bar…no one was poolside to bring drinks to so they were wandering. I didn’t ask to speak to a manager because that’s not my style, I don’t want to hear your lame excuses, Id rather just share an honest review that wasn’t tainted by whatever you could say to me. I work retail and I understand when something is my fault to a guest and when something is simply out my control. This could have been fixed many times and wasn’t…no excuses. The rooms in this hotel are nice though but food and drinks seem to fall below decent and are way to over priced. Thanks for reading this far! Hope...
Read moreThis place is the biggest disgrace and disappointment of the entire Gaylord Palms Resort. Employees everywhere yet you sit down for 15-20 minutes waiting to be served or even acknowledged? Unacceptable and unprofessional for a resort like this. I had to continually stare at the employees behind the bar to make awkward eye contact more than once to FINALLY get some service. Waiter comes over and we order drinks and then food. We watch the bartender make us a pitcher and then leave it at the end of the bar to be delivered. It sat there and I intentionally waited to see if someone other than our server would deliver it since our server wasn't around. Literally at least 8 employees standing around the end of the bar and not a single one of them helped their server out to deliver us our pitcher. Therefore, our food literally came out before we even got our drinks. So, I asked for some waters. The food did come out fast but the lack of teamwork of this staff is mind boggling. You should never get food before drinks, ever. Next...we order Long Island Iced Teas. NEVER do you EVER put actual iced tea in a long island.....that is the most amateur bartending move in the industry. If you are a bartender, you should know this... but not at the Sandbar, nope. I will never give this place business again, one and done. I will happily walk out of the pool area and into Wrecker's sports bar to get drinks to go from bartenders and staff that actually know what they're doing, are professional, educated, and polite. The Sandbar is a disgrace and this reflects extremely poor management. The apple doesn't fall far from the tree...poor management creates poor service from employees. Get it together or get a crew that actually knows what they're doing and cares... what a disgrace for the Gaylord Palms. 1 star only because you have to give them something to leave a review but they don't deserve it. This place...
Read moreWas looking for a vegan/veggie burger. This place said it closed at 7pm. Drove all the way here and got here at 6:05 only to learn that it closed at 6!! So then went to Wreckers Bar which was good. But now it’s time to leave and I remember there was no free guest parking. Oh but most restaurant validate right...??? No!!
I had to pay $24 more dollars to get out of the parking lot because only two restaurant validate parking, and unfortunately the restaurant I went to didn’t. Spoke to front desk who told me to check with one of the two restaurants who does validate. When I spoke to the young lady she said she could if I spend over $75 on the meal.
So my whole experience to get a veggie burger cost me $54 and I was here all...
