I don't normally leave lengthy reviews, but this experience was one that still makes me shake my head.. Let me begin by saying the food was great. We had a party of 5 and everyone was very happy with the food.
First issue I had was the "menu chaos" at the table. The menus we all had all seemed to be different and were confusing, and our waitress gave no guidance to what was what. It looked like our table was a staging section for staff to set up for the dinner shift and we were sat there by mistake.
Second, and the REAL ISSUE, was our waitresses unfamiliarity with the menu(s). First, she was unaware of what a hard seltzer was. When I asked her if they had any hard seltzers she gave me a glazed over look like I was speaking a foreign language. I began to name a few different types and she shook her head saying they don't carry hard seltzers. I then asked what was in the "blue hurricane" drink special and all she could tell me about it was "it was blue". Even better, after I ordered we noticed that they do have high noon seltzer on one of the numerous menus at the table. When I showed her the hard seltzer listed on the menu she said that they are normally out, and that's why she said that. She came back and said they were stocked with multiple flavors.
I am not high maintenance but if you are not sure about something, please find out and come back with the answer, don't just stand there and stare blankly at me, then guess and tell me the only thing you know about the alcoholic beverage daily special is that "it is blue", ummm, yup, that was in the name... we had questions about food but we got little to no "good" information, more guessing. Again, find the correct answers for your...
Read more9/9/22 UPDATE Met my brother and wife again--this time with another brother from Maryland. While the food was still excellent, the service was VERY uneven. Our server was late with refills--no big deal, did not return to check on us for multiple minutes--no big deal......but the food did not come together!! We received 2 chicken parm dishes, 2 minutes later another--and 6 MINUTES!! later the chicken marsala and salmon dishes arrived. I had to reduce my rating from 5 stars to 4 stars. When we are in Florida, Shrimp Boat Grill is the restaurant closest to the mid-point for my wife and I to meet my brother and his wife. We discovered it a couple of years ago, and dine a few times per year. Our visit tonight was typical--excellent food combined with excellent service. It was more crowded than usual, and they were light on servers--but you could not tell if not informed. While KB was our server---and did a wonderful job--the entire staff worked as one team---everyone seemed to be helping each other to keep the service up to their usual standards. I believe the manager? served us our bread, and helped bus our table. :O My brother and I are chicken parm people (cavatappi served in a separate bowl). The sauce was nice and spicy and the chicken was nice and hot. My wife had a Caesar salad which was good (but had too much dressing just dropped on top of the salad), and tried the Shanghai tuna, which she loved. I tried it and agree. My sister-in-law ordered the salmon a la meuniere (which is gluten free--though not noted on the menu). She said it tasted delicious. Leftovers--but no...
Read moreThis was our first time eating there. Our server came and got our drink order and then brought us some bread that was very good. I ordered the ribs and and grilled shrimp and my mom ordered the cheeseburger and fries. The fries were crispy and the burger was cooked well. The ribs were terrible, I was looking for pork ribs not beef so when our server brought my plate with these huge ribs that were very dark and charred I was shocked. I tried them and they were not good. The shrimp was OK but didn't have much seasoning just drowned in butter but I ate them. For my side I ordered the cheese and bacon grits. I took 2 bites and neither bite was good. There was no bacon in the grits and I'm not sure what cheese they used but it just didn't taste good. Our server was friendly enough but I did notice she was more attentive to other tables even going over their specials for the day which she did not do with us. She did come by and asked if I needed a to go box and when I said no she asked if I liked the food. I told her no but I ate my shrimp and she asked if I wanted anything else. I told her no it was fine and she left. My mom enjoyed her meal but it was too much for her to eat. When the check arrived I was only charged for my moms meal and our drinks. I didn't ask for the food to be removed from our ticket but she insisted since I didn't enjoy the food. Overall I do not think I would eat there again but if I do, I will order something different. I will say the restaurant was clean, there was nice music playing and the...
