Very disappointed after the reopening honestly. Please go into this review with the understanding that I have had their food before and I loved their establishment prior to the closing for covid. Their food has always been on point there live music has always been affordable and a great venue to have a good time with your family except after the reopening well just read below..
I loved Skipper's Smokehouse and unfortunately after the reopening I went there to make a YouTube video about their food and give them praise and I ended up walking out extremely disappointed.
I ordered one of their more expensive items on the menu I got the gator ribs and when my food arrived it was room temperature. Anyone who knows anything about meat knows that the majority of meat needs to be served hot it preserves the flavor.
So I basically spent $18 on cold gator ribs cold french fries cold mac and cheese and two hot hush puppies.
My friend orders a salad they say they do not have a house salad only a Caesar salad so he ordered the Caesar salad plain with ranch they brought him a small play of Caesar salad with some parmesan shavings and a handful of croutons and two small containers of ranch it was the most pathetic salad I've ever seen and they charged him $9 for it.
With all that being said I will still say that the flavors were pretty much on point but anybody that makes hard-earned money and spends it has expectations when I go to a place that serves Louisiana style food that it's going to come hot to get the full potential out of the meal and the experience of it.
You can see from the picture below the presentation is great it's exactly what I would expect but I needs to come hot to preserve all of the flavors of the meal otherwise it's just a mediocre sit down and the full potential of food cannot be...
Read moreThis was my hang out many years ago so took my family here last night for good food and fun atmosphere. So disappointed food definitely wasn't what it used to be. Oyster shells weren't even clean prior to opening them, they had green slime on shells and inside of oysters, sent them back and got same ones. They were also mushie, very scared to eat these for 18 bucks a dozen. Tuff gator bites. Out of green tomatoes. Everything it served on paper plates and plastic forks. No salt, pepper or ketchup on tables ya have to ask and wait for it while food gets cold. Paid to enjoy the band and have a few beers outside then this old lady walks up to my daughter to tell her in a very nasty tone with her arms crossed like she was a warden of a prison, No Vaping ( we did not see any signs). Then she stood across the way with her arms still crossed staring at us. Very unwelcoming, uncomfortable so we left. I did ask the old lady who she was on my way out and she stated she's the owner's fiance and her name was Cricket. I let her know that there's a nicer way to treat her guest and she need to work on her customer service/host skills also we spent alot of money in here just to feel unwelcomed. Cricket told me if I didn't like it leave. So we will not be back to Skipper's and wont be missing out...
Read moreThis is truly one of a kind it's the only place that can have good music and be on a familiar show, man vs food and still be one of the worse places to eat. As food service goes skippers is just the worse. The menu is exciting but the turn out is just under expectations it's better to just keep it simple and get wings and beer but they insist on you to get re fried wings, which are hard and dry and not as exciting as they make it sound. But as a cooks perspective I guess serving old dry wings instead of fresh juicy ones is just easier. But go heard and get something else and try your luck its more like flipping a coin maybe it's good maybe it's not I tried most of the items on there list and it's like most of the fish is to expensive and not worth the risk. The gator ribs are impressive but the only thing you have it to compare it to is regular baby back ribs which are wagu beef compared side by side but all together it's just better to stick to enjoying the music and staying away from the dining room but if you do eat it's best to keep it simple you dont want it to be to hard for the kitchen you might be sitting there for hours on end. The staff is nice and always...
