I’m happy to write a positive review of Todd Homes.
• We hired Todd Homes to remove some old flooring and install some new flooring (about 1,300 square feet) in our home. This took place in October, 2021. • We enjoyed finding Todd Homes employees’ cigarette butts in our garage and driveway each day. This showed that we had hired a company that really cared about and respected our home and family. • When Todd Homes finished this project, we were immediately impressed with how our brand-new floor was buckling and cupping. Corners were popping out, which was a cool feature. It was fun to feel the flooring planks sink a half inch to the subfloor with each step. If you’ve never had a brand-new floor that pops and cracks as you walk on it, we highly recommend installing one. It was exciting to try to prevent kids and older adults from tripping over corners and edges that had popped out. The duct tape we used to cover two dozen exciting “trip zones” made our house feel like a home. • When Todd Homes walked through and observed the floors a few weeks later, their decision to not accept responsibility struck us as responsible and admirable. • We appreciated the opportunity to hire an independent flooring inspector. He was very impressed with how Todd Homes prepped our floor, opting for more of a sloped and unlevel approach instead of the traditional, industry-standard approach that involves leveling the subfloor. The best part was the next 6 months of phone and e-mail runaround. With Todd Homes, lack of communication makes the heart grow fonder. • We were relieved to receive a full refund after 8 months of living with our gorgeous Todd Homes floor. As we hired a new contractor to remove and replace it, we said an emotional goodbye and assumed our Todd Homes fairytale had come to an end. • But Todd Homes is a gift that keeps on giving. As our new contractor removed the Todd Homes floor, they revealed luscious black mold under every plank. See photos to appreciate the beauty. • Thinking back, the allergies and frequent cold-like sicknesses in our family really built character. The bill we paid to remedy the mold immediately and prepare for new flooring was an exciting expense that was fun for us to pay. • It turns out Todd Homes opted for a cool new approach that skipped over the flooring product’s installation instructions. Why would they waste time and energy installing the “minimum vapor barrier” for a concrete subfloor in Tampa? Why would a company feel the need to follow the very clear instructions on each package of flooring panels? A vapor barrier means no mold, and no mold means no fun. • Todd Homes continues to live up to the highest standards of integrity and accountability. Though we requested that they reimburse us for mold clean up, they are admirably opting not to do so. We respect and appreciate their resolve. • If you’re looking for a nice new floor that pops, cracks, buckles, comes apart, trips people, and bounces while you walk, then Todd Homes is your contractor. If you’re as lucky as we were, you might also score some mold in the deal.

Read moreThe business owner says they "do not know why" the problems with our floor developed, which is 100% false. We provided an independent flooring inspector's report noting that the floor was far from level, causing the cupping, popping, and separation between planks. Measurements showed the floor was 1/2" out of flat from 10 ft. The industry standard is that floors need to be within 3/16" of flat from 10 ft. This is written clearly on the boxes of flooring they installed.
I was willing to stick to our refund agreement until we had to pay to remediate the mold that grew all over our floor due to the company’s negligence. The business owner is refusing to take responsibility for the mold. Given that the mold could only be discovered after we got our money back from Todd Homes and hired another contractor to redo their work, the mold is a new and separate issue and fair game for review. Sorry Todd Homes!
The business owner and his employees ignored clear instructions on the product box stating, “Minimum moisture barrier is 6 mil virgin polyethlyne sheet” for a concrete subfloor. Todd Homes installed no moisture barrier and didn’t provide any record of subfloor moisture testing. We wrongly assumed that they knew what they were doing.
The business owner notes that the baseboards Todd Homes installed are still in the photos I posted of all the mold they left to grow. Ding ding, correct! Not pictured is the mold on many of the baseboards (unsurprisingly spread from the mold in the Todd Homes floor) that caused us to need to replace many of these baseboards. To recap and summarize, since the business owner seems confused: Todd Homes refunded us for their botched project EXCEPT FOR REMEDIATION OF THE MOLD THEY CAUSED TO GROW.
The business owner decided to call me a child, stated that I have no honor, and asked how I sleep at night. We are all sleeping well now that we aren’t living in the mold we had growing in our house for 10 months after Todd Homes “worked” there. Thanks for asking! I hope the business owner sleeps well, knowing he caused my toddler, my pregnant wife, and then my infant to live for months with black mold growing in our house due to his company's negligence and laziness. For him to question another person’s honor, given the details in Charlie34 C.’s review (below), is just wild.
If you hire Todd Homes, good luck getting your project done well. And good luck getting them to take full responsibility for the things...
Read moreI'm THRILLED with my new kitchen! Todd Homes had a big job ahead of them--exterior structural work for a new sliding glass door, replacement of kitchen and dining room floor tile, alteration of a principal load-bearing wall (through which two stack pipes were routed), moving plumbing to a center island, and rewiring the kitchen for a new stove location and many, many pretty ceiling lights. Because they maintain a team of skilled tradesmen, all of these things were done well and I was very satisfied with the finished product. They were with me through every step of the process and were extremely responsive to my concerns. Renovations are generally chaotic, but Vince and Chuck did everything they could to minimize the chaos and drive the project to a successful conclusion.
And I am so very happy with my bright and pretty kitchen and all of the natural light the project brought into my formerly dark dining room. You can't go wrong with these...
