Sonny's BBQ — Restaurant in Florida

If you ever wondered why the sonny's on Kingsley isn't busy at 7pm on a Saturday night, I can tell you. I stopped there tonight. What a mistake! The best part was the Sonny Amber draft beer. Everything else was bad... ordered pork &chicken. For $14.29 I got 3 small slices of pork, and the leg and thigh looked like it came from a Cornish hen. After dinner, I felt the need to stop somewhere and get dinner. Even though there were few customers, the wait staff was horrible. At least mine was. What a rip off. By the way, my waitress never ask how it was, I feel she knew it was pathetic. Zero stars was not an option.

2 days ago, Sonny's reached out to ask me to reachout to them with my contact information. To date, I haven't heard a word from anyone. I am a Escelation representative, and I can tell you the reply reeks of lip service if you don't follow through. I provided my contact info over 48 hours ago. It would be nice to hear from the. But I fear that Sonny's is just not that interested in customers. Like I said, it may be the reasone it was nearly empty on a Saturday Night. And other locations have closed in Jacksonville. Sad to see a once favorite place to eat, drop to such low standards.

Highly disappointed in this Sonny’s!! Let’s just say the one star is for the Star in my last name bc I would give zero if I could! I’ve came a couple times but this last time was my FINAL time! There are never enough servers on the floor and rarely a host at the door. The servers walk around on their phones and hold conversations with each other & act like the customers are a bother when we need service! This is work! You’re getting paid to do a job! Do it or go home! Where is management & why allow this to go on? Vanessa spent more attention talking to different men than refilling our drinks or checking on our food, she was rude when I asked about a burger that came out burnt and didn’t offer to correct the issue. Just said “that’s how it’s supposed to look”. I didn’t ask for well done and who pays $13+ for a hard burnt burger. I wasn’t happy with the service at all! If you’re a man, Vanessa might be the server to go to! I’m sure she would rather take her chances on high tips from the men she was too busy talking with than to worry about my tip that was probably nothing to her! I went here for the first time on a Sunday @ 7pm with my 2 year old. I have been to other Sonny's in North/Central FL with relatively good experiences. It was not very busy (each server a few tables) so we were seated quickly. We place beverage orders and received them in an expected time then placed food order. We did not receive utensils though which I did not notice until the cold dishes were served. From that point on service was non-existent. I wasn't able to get the attention of my server to get utensils until the hot food was about to be delivered. When hot food was delivered I requested a refill (large cup, probably 32 ounce) which did not come nor did we see server again until we finished eating. The couple next to me had ordered, before we were seated, all you can eat meals which they didn't receive the first portion before all of my food was served and they were not asked for additional portions to the point that they requested their meal be changed to the regular dinner.

Again it was not very busy so the lack of service and the fact that the service received did not feel welcoming is what really killed this score. Food portions for us were equal to or greater than expectations. Food quality was equal to expectations from my time at other locations. Service killed this score.
