Metro Diner — Restaurant in Florida

Never received food. Ordered ONLINE as a special treat for my kids since it's spring break, food showed as delivered but never arrived. I have a camera facing the parking lot since that's also the direction my front door faces which also includes a view of the only entrance/exit to the neighborhood, no food delivery even drove in during that time. Visited when recommended by my Orange Park-dwelling brother. We were welcomed by a friendly hostess who seated us promptly. We liked the look of the place, a kitchen open to view, clean lines and graphics, diner-look. We departed from our dinner ordering procedure and chose sandwiches instead of entrees. They were so tempting, including a MONTE CRISTO that sounded wonderfully authentic. I ordered it with a side of grits! It was heaven in sourdough, so much that I removed the center piece of bread to fit it into my mouth and belly. (See left picture) Stuffed with high-quality sweet ham, turkey and two cheeses all melted together in my mouth. The grits were properly made with milk instead of water, creamy! My daughter ordered the BACON, MUSHROOM, SWISS BURGER pictured in the middle. It was broiled perfectly medium-rare, hard to capture that red-pink without a real camera. The smoky bacon and melted sour-sweet Swiss accompanied the choice (not prime) Angus-quality beef perfectly. Mushrooms, fresh and sauteed, provided an earthy undertone that went beautifully with the beef. Balanced, complex and showed up wrapped in a brioche bun. Deee-licious! Everything was 4-star until I ordered a beer. I'm kind of particular about beer, and I didn't see my usual go-to. I had to choose from a short-list of craft beers I had no idea what was inside the bottle. My serving person was sweet, helpful on the food but had never allowed alcohol broach her lips. She called the restaurant manager over, who at least knew the products he was selling. I ordered a perfectly suitable beer he recommended that went with my food just fine without tasting fruity. His involvement in ensuring that THIS diner enjoyed his meal was remarkable. That earned...

We have always loved coming to Metro. The food is always hot and tastes great. We've never had a problem with the service, the waiters are always friendly and attentive. This was our go to spot to have dates with my husband or have a family meal . But on Monday August 28th that changed for us unfortunately. It's taken me a bit to post this review, so I'm sorry about that. I went in to have lunch/breakfast with my mom. I got a booth and was seated immediately. I ordered two waters for me and my mom. This whole time I'm on my phone browsing social media so I'm very distracted and didn't look or drink from my water when they arrived. I then asked the waiter for two coffees. I still hadn't looked or touched my water. When the two coffees get to my table I add one creamer to mine and go to grab my utensils to stir the coffee. At which time I quickly noticed something in my water. I grab my water from the center of the table to bring them close to me and notice a ROACH leg on the ice in my water!!! I was immediately mortified and thankful I hadn't drank at all from that water!! I took a quick picture and got up to leave but made sure I told the host why I was leaving so that they could address the situation. I am just so disappointed and I can't go back and eat there. I don't know how that bug piece got there but that doesn't let me trust anything else. I was still in my car about to drive off, when the manager went to look for me.
