I am a regular at Sun Pearl and was shocked by the RUDE behavior I encountered on my visit today. Not sure if the woman was the owner or just who she was as I had not seen here on previous visits. If she is the owner perhaps she should stay in the back or stay home because she sorely changed my opinion of this business. The young ladies working the front are always very polite with customers.
I ordered a lavender milk tea, admittedly I did not specify I wanted my drink hot BUT the cashier also did not ask...She did ask if I wanted boba, which I said no! The order came out iced and I mentioned, sorry but I wanted that hot. This woman whomever she was shot me a dirty look mumbled something as she walked away. Before she went into the back of the store to correct my order she shouted something back I believe indicating it was my responsibility to ensure the order was placed correct. If the menu board only had lavender tea as and iced option and it was not also on the hot drinks side I would own the mistake accept the drink cold and move on with my day. However, because the store offers the same drink both cold and hot then no it is the order takers responsibility to clarify what the customer wants. Additionally, while I was waiting for my drink to come out correctly she chastised another customer for touching unwrapped product. Yes,a sign clearly says to ask for assistance with unwrapped products, however, you NEVER embarrass your clientele by pointing out the sign in such a manner that all other patrons in the store can hear what is happening. She was not polite she was condescending.
It was busy and I will just chalk this up that perhaps she was having a bad day, however, if I ever have a similar experience then I will take my business to Bambu which offers the same beverages and are only 500 feet from Sun Pearl. Shame on you for disrespecting your customers. Please try to do better...
Read moreThe quality of the cakes and treats here is unique and refreshing. They taste good and because they are made using a different style of baking. Less sugar, different ingredients and so on.
I have three issues with this bakery however. The first being that they handle the dough without gloves. This is a sanitary issue and health concern. I personally witnessed this through the small window they have that looks into the backroom. In there you can see a preparation area on a table where the food is handled. I saw at least three distant people handling food (unwrapped and unpackaged) without any type of sanitary gear (gloves, hair caps, face mask, etc).
The second is the prices. Not as big as the first, but still a little up there. A small birthday cake, for example, is $40 to start. Custard and stuff is extra.
The final thing is that they are cash only. I can think of a couple of reasons why a place wouldn't want to take any type of plastic but it still puts the customer in an inconvenient position given that the vast majority of people don't carry cash...
Read moreRUDE as always! They certainly have an attitude of mistreating their customers. We were buying some pastries for kids one time. It was early in the morning and they were still wrapping some of them on the counter behind. The young guy at the register on purposely picked out the worst looking ones to me. The shape all messed up. I asked these are for kids and they really care more about the looking than the taste. The guy did not say any word but gave me an ugly look. He turned around and found a second most ugliest one and passed to me. The second visit we went there bought a lot for friends. Even I mentioned repeatedly I need a receipt he acted like he never heard it. And when he did finally give me a receipt he acted like this is a huge bother. I think he must be a relative of the owner who is the older woman in and out of the kitchen. So bad she never tried to correct him for his behaviors. Two rude behaviors in a row which convinces me that never go...
