I’ve been going to Sweet’s for almost a year. I love the food. But today I took my fiancé for the first time, and man it was the absolute worst experience I have ever had at a small diner, ever. In my life!
They were exceptionally busy. No free tables. They stuck us at a table for 1 person, and expected 2 people, cups, and plates of food to all magically find room when 1/4 of the table was taken up with their condiment tray, paper towels, half and half cup, and butter cup.
My fiancé asked for a straw for his orange juice and a Mountain Dew. 20 minutes later they are bringing food out but still didn’t see any sign of either a straw or a MD.
The table was so crammed full of dishes that the knife on my plate fell. I wore the gravy from my food on my shirt and my pants. A lady saw the knife fall and brought me another one, but it shouldn’t have happened in the first place. The table was too small.
My fiancé hated the experience so much I asked for boxes and when the person handed me the check, I noticed I was charged for a MD that never came. I pointed this out and he did take the MD off the bill. He also gave me a ticket for a free meal, which was very generous. But overall, the experience was absolutely horrible and my fiancé said never bring him there again. He also didn’t touch the orange juice that cost 2.50 and was still charged for. We didn’t get straws until we were ready to leave.
It is clear to most people that you have completely outgrown the tiny spot you are in now. You need to relocate to a larger venue where you have more space and room for more than 4 proper size tables. Cramming people in like sardines and sticking them at tiny little tables that are too small to accommodate their needs is counterproductive to keep...
Read moreThis place doesn’t deserve any stars based on the wait staff. The waitress we had was Kris. She made it VERY known how inconvenient my table was. She never asked how we were paying, just assumed we were all together. We were going shopping all day, so my mom wanted just a kids meal. She said “well we aren’t supposed to do that. But I’ll make it work for you” WHY CAN’T I ORDER WHAT I WANT?! I DON’T HAVE TO ORDER ANYTHING. Therefore, I can order a kids meal. Next thing, she brought the one check, we asked that it be split. She said “well it’s already done I don’t think I can do it. But I’ll figure it out for you.” IT WAS YOUR MISTAKE, JUST FIX IT. One of my friends only had an AMEX, when she handed it to Kris, she stated “uh, do you have anything else you can pay with? Card or cash?” She told her no, and she proceeded with “we don’t take this but I’ll see if I can make that happen for you” And after successfully running the card, she YELLS across the restaurant “what tip do you want to give?” She then came back with my friends receipt to sign, and asked if we wanted to tip. My husband replied “$1” and in my opinion, that was too much for her. Your tip is based off of your service, which was very poor. And she scoffed and walked away. As we were leaving, I asked if her name was Kris, and she said yes and then got overly friendly. I’m assuming because she knew I was going to wright a review about her. Very good food, but Kris makes it no worth...
Read moreMy girlfriend thought this place was incredible. I was a little more critical. One of my dads best friends was head of quality control for Howard Johnson’s restaurants in the 1950’s. Anyone 70 or older knows what a big deal that is. My dads friend said you can always tell the quality of a restaurant by tasting their coffee. Sweet’s Diner’s coffee has absolutely no flavor/taste whatsoever. It’s just dark water. I ordered the Angry Crispy Chicken Hoagie with French fries. The menu on their website says you get cole slaw or cottage cheese with it. I wasn’t offered either one. The French fries were blah and not many which doesn’t make sense because a load of fries is impressive without costing the owner of the restaurant a lot. The bun was cold. But it was fried on the inside, which was good. The outside of the bread was a little mushy like it hadn’t been baked properly. The innerds were good. Nice and spicy and crunchy. After we had finished eating, our waitress offered to give me a coffee to go, which was a wonderful gesture. One caveat; This place seems to really thrill a certain kind of person; I can’t quite describe it. My girlfriend IS that kind of person. I’m NOT. I think most people will really, REALLY enjoy this restaurant. NO KIDDING ! I was a restaurant cook for 5 years and I can still really, REALLY wow people with my cooking. I think great cooking is a gift. I’m not sure it...
